Chapter 2 complete! · 11:05am Mar 18th, 2013
Chapter 2 is complete! Total word count is currently sitting at 12,700 words, all of which are contained in the first three chapters.
After a few days of feeling like I was pulling teeth whenever I tried to write, I'm getting back into it. The story structure has changed AGAIN, this time only slightly, and probably for the better. I'm still going for the same amount of words in the introductory arc, but now I get to fit another scene in by diverting some of the slower pace into a faster-paced chapter, allowing for a slow-paced chapter where it's better off. I'm also cutting a slice-of-life scene that no longer really fits into the narrative, but we'll see. If the narrative goes in a different direction again I may put it back in.
The end result of this is that I now have none of Chapter 4 written because it's all been diverted to the third chapter, but as a result I've already completed at least half of Chapter 3 at this point. I may, read MAY decide to send it off to pre-readers after Chapter 3, but that depends on how the first three chapters turn out. Probably I will not be doing this, since I think Chapter 4 is an important chapter to look at in order to judge the introduction as a whole.
The important thing is that I only have a handful of scenes left to have done three chapters, which will be a great load off my mind. Completing three chapters will be a great sign that I have the ability to actually stick with this one.
