AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!.... That just about sums up what I feel about story ideas.
As it stands, I'm trying to devote all of my fic writing time to Shadow and Crystal. Of course, the advents of education and my apparent need to deprive myself of sleep by doing everything have taken up nearly all 24 hours of the day (case and point, I'll be spending all weekend in Sacramento taking tests, delivering speeches, and being interviewed all without an internet connection because hotels charge out the whazoo for wi-fi. Unfortunately, this also means that I won't be able to get the next chapter of Shadow and Crystal out until next week. I iz sad pony). However, my schedule clears up heavily beginning on Monday, meaning that I'll be devoting a lot more time into writing (yay!). This brings me to my main point for writing this blog.
Shadow and Crystal: my first official fic. I want to make this the best possible story I can, but somewhere in my story writing process (which is mainly daydreaming during classes) I get... sidetracked. I'll play Shadow and Crystal in my head (literally... Sometimes it feels like i'm transcribing a movie rather than writing a story) and my Brain will say, "Hey Terra, remember those really cute OctaScratch fics that make up the entirety of your favorites?"
"Yes Brain, yes I do."
"You should write one! Here's a line, and a story premise, and a title, and characterization, and..."
"Brain! I'm trying to focus on this Adventure, not a Romance... as devastatingly cute as OctaScratch is."
"Oh, okay... Hey, I know you don't really read much Human in Equestria, but don't you think it'd be fun to write ? I mean, it doesn't have to be human-human, it could be a human who turned into a pony! Not very original, but it might work out as a Comedy and-"
"Brain. I swear... If you try to turn me away from Shadow and Crystal one more time... I'm turning you off."
"Oh, sorry Terra... What about a clopfic?"
And then I passed out, and I can't really remember what happened afterwards but I remember that my brain was really surprised before it shut down, like it couldn't believe that I actually shut it down. Which is funny, because it's my brain and it should know that I DON'T MAKE IDLE THREATS!!! (... I went a little Party of One there... That's okay, Pinkie Pie is best pink pony.)
Anyway, what I'm trying to get to is this: I'll probably be diversifying my story collection soon as I try to figure out what exactly I enjoy writing and silence the myriad of ponies trotting through my head. But all in all, I'm considering starting another story. (Which may or may not be titled Syncopation and include a certain cello playing mare and her electric blue maned DJ counterpart).
And, in the words of a dear friend and teammate, that's all I have to say about that.
