Working to a Deadline · 6:34pm Mar 15th, 2012
It isn't one of my strengths, let me tell you that much.
I promised myself I'd hammer out more of The Sweetest Cider on Friday night, but crashed early.
I then promised myself that I'd get more done on Saturday, only to subsequently end up in the pub.
Sunday went the same way - my first joyous viewing of 'It's About Time' having blunted my creative edge to enough of an extent that The Sweetest Cider lay unchanged.
And tonight is once more the same, with vain attempts to get to sleep so as to be able to secure a ticket for Celtic vs Kilmarnock in the League Cup Final this coming Sunday,
Not to mention the struggles I'm having with the opening to the upcoming chapter. The ending I have down to a tee essentially. It is working towards said conclusion that is troubling me.
Nevertheless I shall endeavour to release 'Chapter Ten - Jericho's Walls' (as it has long been dubbed) sometime over the next few days.

P.S. - The Sweetest Cider is now on DeviantART. The updates there are slower at the moment (only at Chapter 3/4) but it is still there for those of you who wish to read it there instead. The story can be found here.
No worries, dude. I've been slowly working on my own chapter for a while now.

As one of the regular commenters I'm glad to hear the delay hasn't blunted your enthusiasm for my tale.
Look forward to seeing your latest piece of work as well if the last chapter was anything to go by.
30957 Why thank you, kind sir.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

You shouldn't force it. It's best to not even try, that section of the brain is just... weird. attempt to impose artificial restrictions and timelines and you're just going to stem the flow. certainly set goals, but don't stress overly if your brain won't cooperate. mind you I've only been writing for a month now lol... but that's my impression thus far.

You're very welcome good fellow.

I can kind of agree, and I've been writing for a lot longer. Over the last few days I've found whenever I've had a moment spare my mind will drift into literary mode and try and work out the likes of dialogue etc. It's worked rather well for the most part.
My failsafe in silencing the hyper-critical difficult part of my brain is to sit down with a cold beer and write. It combines two of my loves in drinking and writing (three given the pony related nature of my work of late) and works even better than just quiet contemplation. That's maybe just me though.
XD hard think ideas to open the next chapter?
take your time! and dont worry XD
My problem is motivating myself to write at all! On the whole it's probably better that I spare the fandom from my ramblings.
Hope inspiration strikes soon - perhaps you could try to thrash it out with another author? I also hope you got your tickets!

I know that feeling all too well. Luckily the fact that I have an audience who seems relatively enamoured with my work - something I've never had before - gives me that inspiration.
And I say go for it. The fandom have likely seen a veritable smorgasbord of shite and still come across as reasonable tolerant people. Hell, I'd read whatever you have to say so long as it isn't a steaming pile of Mary Sue, Cupcakes Mark Whatever-Mark-That-Fic-Has-Spawned-By-Now, prose that reads like an Ikea instruction booklet or any combination of the three.
I intend to try and thrash it out tonight/tomorrow morning given that the weekend will likely be a write-off - girlfriend's tomorrow night, St Paddy's on Saturday (so will possibly go for a pint or two), cup final on Sunday (I got my ticket at the expense of sleep due to a misunderstanding ).
33317 No Mary Sues on my watch - my OC pony Starfall is going nowhere near anything I write unless it's a cameo appearance, trust me! It might read like an Ikea booklet though (and not Pia Ikea, either).
