A little bit on Creation. · 10:25pm Feb 26th, 2013

Not so much the making of stories, but actual world (or universe) building.

It's one of those things I've always enjoyed reading about- the manifold interpretations of "how did all this come about?" that fictional writers put onto pages. It's as if we're all dimly scrying the infinite could-have-beens of the multiverse, and then putting those visions to paper (electronically speaking or otherwise) to form our little authored universes.

It's that world building that gives a story literal ground to stand on, and even life- say, the story of the alicorns from Background Pony, which in and of itself would make quite the mythical text. Broken songs, singing, unsung, life and death in pony-world form.

What kind of worldbuilding do you take note of as you read FIMfiction, or indeed other fictional works? I've tried a bit of very specific worldbuilding in Chapter 4 of The Night Of The Broken Heart, but it comes in all kinds of amounts and flavors.
