    Fragments From The Archives

Hey folks! It’s been a while. I hope everyone’s doing well over here.

I was going through some old files, and I found a bunch of unfinished stories I was working on, way back when. I’ve posted three of them in my scrapfile for whoever's interested.

New Holiday Story: Where The Heart Is

I've posted a new story about going home for the holidays. You won't see it in your feed, because the mods in their infinite wisdom have decreed that sufficiently short stories aren't actually stories, so this blog is to let you know that it's available in my

Thanks to Chris, I've been thinking about writing style recently. What is a style? Do I have one? Do I have more than one? How can I tell? “Thinking really hard about these questions” doesn't seem like a good way to get answers, since my most common problem as a writer is that I don't communicate the ideas I mean to communicate.

Horse Words [Aural] · 1:16am Feb 25th, 2013

The folks at The Living Library Player Society read Everfree and the Poisoned Flower. Go check it out! Those folks know how to do a reading. Oleander's voice actress[1] in particular does a great job. My only complaint is that the narrator isn't actually Andrea Libman, but I guess you can't have everything.

This makes me extremely happy, not just because they chose my story, but because they chose that story. First, it's written in the style of somepony telling a bedtime story, so I think it's well-suited for the live reading treatment. Second, I've always felt that story got a bit overlooked, and it's cool to see it get attention. [2]

[1] Do you have any idea how cool it is to type those words?[3]

[2] Not that I'm an attention horse. I mean, I wouldn't spend hundreds of hours writing about cartoon ponies just to get the internet to notice me. No, sir.

[3] It is pretty cool.

Wow! Congratulations!

How did this happen? Did they mysteriously appear one day with a complete recording? Did they seek you out and ask for permission? Did you submit it to them? Either way, there's no flattery like recognition.

I got a message an hour or two before their livestream, letting me know I was on the roster. And then, suddenly, horse words everywhere.
