Probably not a good idea for my first blog, but whatever. · 2:53am Feb 12th, 2013

Look. I read articles. And comments. I'm silly like that.

So I come across this thing from back in October on The Daily Dot about 5 signs of a dying fandom and why the author says it fits bronies. It has links to controversies and tumblrs. Full of irrationality and drama and ugh. And this was written BEFORE anything about AliTwi (which can be fine, if not a great decision) and Fighting is Magic's takedown (which sucks, but was kind of inevitable after the EVO nomination).

And then there are the tumblrs for 'sane' bronies documenting controversy and calling it dumb. Which it is. Except for the part where these tumblrs come off as completely pretentious and mean.

Then there are all the people who talk about how the fandom is moving away from its core principles, and how Hasbro is the devil, and how everything should be pirated so as to deprive the Great Satan of money vs the people who despise pirating entirely despite the fact that's the main way people can watch episodes.

And THEN there are the people who hate EQD as a whole, or say it's gone downhill since the early days, or just hate most of the prereaders for being too pretentious/biased/having too high standards.

And then I start asking myself why I read these blogs and comments and whatnot. Because even though I may have opinions one way or another on these topics, I don't care that much.

All I want to do is watch the episodes, look at the art, read the fanfics, and have fun or intelligent conversations about it. Yet I can't seem to draw myself away from the almighty power of the Drama Llama. Why is that?

Maybe I'm just silly.

(I should probably write another blog soon on a lighter topic. Oh well. I wonder if anyone will actually read this fairly pointless rant.)
