Okay, basically, as the title says, she becomes an alicorn, what's the big deal?
First off, I'd like to state that this show was truly meant for little girls, the reason why we think that her becoming an alicorn screws us over shouldn't really be that it does screw us over at all. Really, it shouldn't.
Secondly, the directors aren't actually supposed to read fanfics, and knowing the curiosity of cavemen to poke fire, as stated before, these episodes are planned waaaaay ahead, like one season or two... and who knows, it could've been planned from the beginning with all of the evidence that we've seen throughout the series. Seriously, even a non-brony could've predicted it.
As you can tell, I'm unmoved by this and will forever stay with this fandom, not only because it's a great show and will forever be a great show, but the people... I still believe that there is some good in us if we just try to focus a bit more on it, rather than the negative.
As a show meant for little girls, for little girls, the storyboard for the little girls... shouldn't we just love it like how we loved the show at Season 1, or the first time from where we picked up?
It's just a physical transformation, just the same characters with wings and more challenges.

Well, Hasbro's been rather willy-nilly with the alicorn thing. Thank Celestia that the term "alicorn" is show canon. The stick-up-the-flank people on the MLP Wiki were refusing to use the term. Like "Winged Unicorn" was ever used in the show...
