Alicorn Scrolls update-ish thing · 3:43am Jan 24th, 2013
Hello everyone! RyuuKiba here with some news!
Well, it's been a while and the new chapter isn't quite done, especially with how busy everything else I gotta do has been making me...
In any case I've been sneaking in some work on it and it should be done in about a month or so... I'm saying a month assuming I don't get any free time for it at all... lets hope I get a good weekend or something so I can get it to you guys sooner!
For now, here's a tiny little extract of The Alicorn Scrolls: Skyrim Chapter 5. (Note that whatever I post is subject to change in its entirety! It could be just a tweak or a total rewrite!)
I placed my armor and saddlebags beside a stump and plunged into the slow river that softly flowed beside the small settlement. This, I thought, was the best part of Riverwood.
“Ya still set on leavin’ in the mornin’, Khazur?” Applejack’s voice reached me from the riverbank.
“Pretty much. We can’t take any more advantage of your hospitality, it wouldn’t be right.” I answered, not turning to see her. I was quite happily floating in the water right now.
“Come now, we don’t mind y’all stayin’ with all the help you give to folks here.”
I didn’t answer. I liked Riverwood quite a bit, but a strange anxiety kept prodding at me... urging me to leave soon. Maybe it all had something to do with my vision, like the same entity that had shown me the incidents in Haygen now wanted me to keep going.
“Thank you Applejack, but we can’t. We are adventurers, or at least that’s what we want to be now; staying anywhere for too long defeats the purpose.” I stood up on the riverbed, the water reaching my flanks as I stared down at my hooves through the clear surface. “The whole dragon thing has me nervous and restless. Even if it’s just a single dragon that has awakened or something, more ponies will need help in the chaos it’ll leave behind.”
Applejack looked down to her hooves as well, kicking some dirt. “Well if y’all must go, it’s what y’all have to do. I gotta say, all them things that’ve been happening ‘round here are-“
“Do-vah-kiin”
“strange…” Applejack looked on to the sky after the loud, thundering voices cut her off.
The words had been very similar to the ones I had heard the dragon say in my dream, so I urgently got out of the water and looked up to where the nord mare was frowning.
“What exactly was that?” I asked, already cautiously reaching out for my armor and bags.
“I think that was the voice of them Greybeards. They must’ve been callin’ somepony down in Whitetrot.”
I must’ve stared at her with the most comical of quizzical faces, for she laughed out loud the moment she saw me. She shook her head once she calmed down.
“Greybeards are ‘n order of… um… wise stallions that learn to use a power they call The Voice. Supposedly it’s a magic dragons used by sayin’ things in their tongue.” She explained.
I frowned. “So, first a dragon attacks Haygen, and a few days after these Greybeards use the power of dragons to call somepony?”
“Yeah, I don’t think this is a coincidence either.” She sighed heavily. “Alright then, we’ll see y’all off tomorrow. If it helps, I think your best bet to findin’ ponies that know anythin’ ‘bout what’s going on is to go to Whitetrot.”
I nodded. “Thanks Applejack, I think we’ll be heading over there next.”
I put my armor and bags on and headed on to the house. It was a cozy little place littered with apples and apple-related ornaments. It was a fitting theme for the place after all. Applebloom had mentioned how their family had once been apple farmers, with the only apple trees able to survive in Skyrim’s weather. Now all they had was a single tree which had stopped bearing fruit for years.
Till next time!
