ONE YEAR · 8:31am Jan 15th, 2013
Well, this time one year ago, a tall brony decided to finally make an account. Here's the story of how I found this site and how I became a brony in honor of my one year celebration!
Back some time ago, between season one and two, I decided to visit my friend Attacking Dogs. When I approached him in his room he looked back to me with a devilish smile.
"Guess what my brother is doing." I was a little taken back, going for the obvious WOW or Magic answers, but no. "He's watching ponies."
"... what?" Of course I thought this was some WOW thing and was not truly interested. (For the record, no. I do not play WOW.) But when he brought me to his room, there they were. Six colorful ponies running around a brightly colored world. I didn't know what to say. I don't know what I actually said to this day. (Probably some generic TB thing that I make up on the spot. What? I do it often. Don't judge!)
"Wanna watch?" He offers me. I had, fairly recently, just finished watching Kim Possible and was open to the idea of watching it. I always give everything the benefit of the doubt and try it before knocking it. Don't believe me? I've listened to Justin Biebers first album. Who would admit that? Someone who can genuinely tell you why they don't like it, thats who.
Now, of course we don't watch an entire episode at that moment. Instead, he shows me this:
If you don't know what episode that's from, get off my site. They start raving about how that happened in the show, how no one changed that scene. I was... curious, to say the least. So, after everything is said and done, he sends me a link to a video playlist that has all of season one. Cool. Drive home, go upstairs, fight wizard (my stomach) get on my computer.
Lets see,
Email...
Funny youtube video...
Random flash games....
Hey look! My uncle from the Congo died, I'M RICH!
What time is it? 1:00am? Fuck I'm going to.... hmm, oh right. Kyle sent me that link to that thing with the singing horse. I really should get to bed...
So of course I finish season one.
The first few episodes go by and I chuckle at best. Its good enough to keep my attention but I'm not that enthralled by it. But, as the episodes go, I keep trying to go to bed. I'd get up, walk over to my room door, think.... aw fuck it. Who needs sleep. I couldn't stop watching the episodes. The next week goes by and watch them all at least four times... I... I... I like a show for little girls....
I NEED MOAR!
I go back to my friends brother and we talk about being Brony and shit like that. He eventually turns me on to Equestria Daily. I took me four tries and a phone call, but I eventually get to the site and start poking around.
And there it was...
"Hmm, Ponies = awesome.
Fallout = awesome.
If you haven't heard of it and like Fallout, read it. In my opinion, its the greatest fanfic in out fandom, look at all of the crossovers for this stories universe! I find this and start reading... and then read some more... and then I can't stop reading! I fell in love with the story! It's still one of my favorites around! But, sadly, it comes to an end. What? No... just.... I need more! I've read a couple other stories on the site (my other favorite being Past Sins) but, I needed my fallout fill. I had also caught up on Project Horizons so I needed my fill. What was I to do? Go to my Brony guru of course! I go to my friends brother again and tell him my problem.
He calls me adorable...
Then we did an internet! (I'm as capable with the internet as I am with breathing in space). We eventually find a story call Pink Eyes! Its a Fallout crossover on this site. I read it. Not as good as FoE but it sated my appetite. But... this site I had found. FimFiction. Nothing but pony stories, surely they must all be awesome! So, I got to the home page and look at the featured box.
My Second Life.
Sadly this story is no longer on the site, the writer fell out of the fandom, but back when it was up I fell in love again. I would check the site daily for updates, and usually I got one! But, I wanted to post some things for the Q/A the writer, Coal Buck, was doing. Thus, I finally decided to make an account. (Or made one in a hurry so I could post my questions, whatever). I go through all of the stuff before coming back to the one thing stopping me from posting my questions.
What to call myself?
Hmmm... well, I'm tall (6'8") and am now openly a brony. Math.... Math..... MATH....MATH
Thus Tallestbrony was made. That is how my account was made. If you wish to hear the story of how I came up with the story, I might do it on another special occasion. But for now....
tl:dr
but happy birthday!!!
.....wait
that does not sound right.....
happy............yearly membership on fimfiction???
......
713763 to.. long... but you read Man of War!?!?!!??!!? IRONY! But thanks anyway!
That was a better story than anything I've written! Lol. Congrats on everything you've accomplished in the past year my friend, and here's to six more because that's how long I imagine Man of War will last. Brony on! and what not... I need my own phrase...
I love Fo:E. I'm about three chapters left to go, and have had a tab open to the page for months now, cause I don't want it to finish.
713788 Finish it, trust me. It... is... AWESOME! I nearly punched my screen because of the ending.
For me it was a picture of Fluttershy having her mane braided by three birds. I was on a Rzor.
And not the smart kind. Upgraded to an EVO. Been a brony since.
Awsome
Made my account after reading some stories and posting comments
6.8 isn't that tall.
Go me, go and fuck up the happiness!
Awesome bonus, great stuff. The joys of being a newborn Brony. The fear, the happiness, the trepidation, the ponies!
I remember my first watch-through too. That old cliche of "I can't believe I'm watching ponies..." "Do you want to stop?" "I never said that, now shut your mouth, Pinkie Pie is speaking."
I especially liked the part about math.
Happy 1 year!
sounds like a great story. Congratz for being a brony one year.... i still have to wait 4 months for my anniversary
Another thing. I have to honestly praise you for your ability to write such a long story without rushing the parts.... i am currently writing my own story (Your story along with another on in fanfiction.com inspired me btw) and well... i am rushing it at some points... it's just "Oh come on i don't want to describe another fight, which was basically like the last one just better.... let's just skip it"
Also your constant uploading of about 2 - 3 chaps per week is also impressive, and it really doesn't matter what they all talk about in the story. They could be talking about the weather and as long as you write it, i would still reread the chapter. (Dayum dat weather).
Again, congratz on your anniversary. I never did this before, so it really means a lot, but... man this is hard..... here have it.... before i decide otherwise *Looks pained the other way*
713796 The first story I read and which led me to make an account here was your story so have a moustache
714271 AAAWWW!! That actually....GRRASAEVF..... NO! EMLOTIONSSSS! GAH! TOO.... TOUCHED!
714236 The key is putting meaning into each part. If I talk about the weather, the weather is important later. Skipping fights means those fight aren't important.
Thanks for your support! All of your responses mean a lot to me.
Brony on!
I have no words. I have written too multiple paragraphs worth of comments/reviews and have nothing left except that you are an amazing writer and to NEVER stop writing Man of War or put it on hiatus or I will kidnap you and force you to write non-stop even though I won't even read it myself. Congrats on one year and poni poni poni
721605 Thanks man, and don't worry. I wont stop writing till Man of War ends... sadly it does end though. But fear not, the ending will be AWESOME!
