The Sentient Cloud

I'm The Sentient Cloud, a now-retired fanfiction writer from New Zealand. If you're looking at this, then you've probably already found your way to either "The Piano Man" or "Those Who Came Before".

    Updates on /everything/

Okay, so as a little note: I am still around, and I am still working on the final Piano Man Chapter.
But, that brings me to an interesting point, that being; I'm not entirely sure I'll keep writing for FIMFiction once it's over. I'm not saying I won't, but it's a possibility.

    Hard at Work

I know I've been very quiet update-wise as of late, so I feel it's best that I put up a quick blog post.

As per normal, Those Who Came Before is still on hiatus until I've put out these last two Piano Man chapters. I just felt I should reaffirm that. The first of the two-part epilogue for The Piano Man: Act II is close to completion too. I apologize for the long wait.

    Google "The Piano Man"

Every now and then, I Google my stories, just to see how far down the list they pop up. Obviously, The Piano Man has never been high on the search results unless you include 'FIMfiction' in the search bar.

    But...

    Seriously. What.
    WHAT.

Piano Man Update · 10:00am Jan 14th, 2013

Obviously it's been a good month since my last Piano Man update. Rest assured, I am working on it. The delay has once again been caused by writers block, and my decision to scrap what I already had to rework the chapter. (I wasn't pleased with what had been produced.)

So yes. I'm working on it, and I'm still trying to keep quality up. I think it's pretty exciting myself, as we're coming to the end of Act II. (And possibly the series as a whole.) I'm still working out the details of Equestria's law system, but I'll let you know right now that it's not being modeled after any human law system in particular.

Yup. I'm still working.

So...are you working on it?

710448
Obviously, he is, or else he wouldn't have posted this blog.

710448 I thought I was clear about that. :ajsmug:

710451 710452

I can't tell if either my snark backfired or I'm being counter-snarked...:trixieshiftleft:

710454 Counter-snarked - at least for me.

710454
Counter-snarked, though your snark failed horrifically.

How fucking ironic:twilightsmile:
i just check if there were any update on
The Piano man ACTII
and I step on this thanks to the Notification:rainbowkiss:
only 2 words:raritywink:
DO IT!!!:flutterrage:

YES an update!

Thank you

Alright, so when you're done, are you going to focus on the "Ones who came before" before you even think about another piano man? Or will you not be doing another.

also, how many chapters are left?

On top of that (sorry, I'm full of questions:twilightoops:) is there going to be an epic scene where Trixi escapes, and everyone has to hunt her down? I think that would be entertaining. (that's just me though :twilightsheepish:)

Or are you going to end this like it would end in real life, w jail time and or an execution?

So does that mean Act II will be the end of the series? Or will there ever be an Act III?

Questions! I must know the answers to them! :pinkiecrazy:

That block is such an asshole :moustache:

I demand Phoenix Wright references!
:twilightblush:

So yes. I'm working on it, and I'm still trying to keep quality up. I think it's pretty exciting myself, as we're coming to the end of Act II. (And possibly the series as a whole.)

Hmm... What about between Jacob and Twilight? Are you gonna go through with that, or do you think you can make an 'Act III' to sort it out? Which I know that's not gonna happen because I don't know how Act II will end.
If aren't gonna do it and you'll soon think you're satisfied of your work, then you can continue writing on Those Who Came Before.

You're considering not continuing the series? Is their a reason or do you feel that you will be able to wrap up the story as a whole soon? I don't mind if you think you can finish the story I just didn't realize it was so close to completion already seemed like there was still a lot going on. Either way do what you feel is best obviously, but count me among the ones who would like to see this story continue.

710485 Uhh... I'd estimate around 3-5 chapters. Possibly six.
Yes. Real-life styled ending, and I'm not sure about a third act.

710512 Not sure. I guess it'll be affected by reader feedback at the end of the series.

711739 Okay, like I've said; I'm not sure about The Piano Man III. Aside from obvious issues like it having much less views and favorites than this story, I'm not decided over whether or not it should be done. Jacob and Twilight will definitely get their moment before this story ends, and you can bet your ass it'll be a major plot line if I do continue with a third installment, but at the moment I'm summing up my options. TPMIII would be lacking in a base goal for the end like the first two acts, and would be even more slice-of-life-ish than the current arc, which may not appeal to some readers.
There's pros and cons to all of this, and I'm definitely going to need the help of the readers.

713411 Oh, I believe I can definitely wrap it up - and in a way that I think the majority will find agreeable. The Piano Man III would definitely be separated from the Trixie plot-line, and focus more on Jacob and Twilight, and his developing friendships with the other elements, Maneworthy, and other surplus characters you lot may not remember. Note that In this act I didn't make him auto-friends with all of the Elements - in fact, I kept them rather distanced, due to the fact that they were's intensely involved in his recovery like Twilight.
In fact, aside from the main cast of Jacob, Twilight and Maneworthy (who has been absent since chapter 11, I may add), Rarity has been the most prominent of the other characters, as she's always helping out with Jacob's clothing needs.

As much as it pains me to say it, it's probably about time to end the story. It's awesome, and I really appreciate you writing it, because it really is a bitching story, but it's starting to get a bit long. Just my opinion.
