What Can You Do To Help? · 8:35pm Jan 12th, 2013
Yo, what's up.
So, I'm bored. And I was going to release Chapter 9 today, but my co-author has convinced me that we should really settle on a release date, so that people know to look for us every week. I've decided on Monday. Get home, wanting to unwind, Omega will be here for you. After 5 PM. I have school, y'know.
Anyways, since he hasn't reviewed Chapter 9's latest draft yet, I don't really want to start on 10. Also, I'm somewhat bored. I want to do something Omega, but can't think of anything. Compromise? Make a blog post! About what? About what you can do, as a reader to help me!
The first thing, of course, is to get more readers. Tell your friends about Omega! Leave a link to it on websites! Buy a billboard and put instructions for finding it up there! Hijack a major satellite network and force everyone in Taiwan to listen to a reading of the fic, in Taiwanese! Getting more readers is the biggest thing you can do for me. I just need enough to get a feature on the frontpage. Just gotta build up some heat. Once that's done, I think the fic will be able to attract readers itself.
Second: the world of Omega is still largely unfinished. I have vague outlines. I kind've know what the map looks like for where the fic will be going. I've established races, but am making needed characters on an essentially chapter-by-chapter basis. Actually, most of the characters in Omega are made by other people. This is because I believe that by outsourcing my characters, I increase variety and individuality. For example, the entire Stygian clan was made by a friend from school. I took what she gave me and used it as a guide, though of course I bent it abit to get it to fit my needs.
What does this mean to you? It means you can help me build the Outer World! You can make characters for me. You can make towns for me. You can even make subplots (think: side quest) for me. All you have to do is send me a message about what you're interested in, with perhaps a suggestion included.
However, if you do choose to take part in the creating of the Outer World, I will have to bring you kind've behind the scenes. I'll have to give to information about it that you probably wouldn't know at the time if you were just reading the fic. So I warn you: spoilers (especially about the world itself, not so much the plot) will probably arise.
Third... I dunno. That's about it. Read the fic?
Well, there we go. Omega-related writing urge has been sated.
Wow, I'm really gonna have trouble sticking to a release day...
