    Study Buddies Gettin' Canned

Hey everyone, I hate to say this (really really do) but I'm officially abandoning Study Buddies. It's not because it's a crappy story with too many frayed ends, plot holes, basic grammatical problems, cliche and mostly flat characters and a general lack of actual substance (though all of those are true, the damn thing is FUBAR), It's because I personally don't like writing it. It's a fic that

    The False King is Crowned!

Hey everyone! This is to announce that the sequel to Grimoire has been submitted! The first two chapters will be available as soon as it gets through the whole process, I certainly hope that you all enjoy and I really look forward to hearing what you guys think so far. Other than that, welcome to my incredibly weird update schedule once again, although now my stories are being graciously

    Hey there!

The only reason for this blog is to kinda keep people up to date with me. It's been over a month since I've really accomplished anything, so I figured I'd let you all know that I haven't been a total slacker this whole time. I've been working on several little one-shot projects, but finally have settled on one in particular. It's not a one-shot anymore, rather a collection of seven one-shots

    Gold

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first, but the extra $19.99 US for FimFiction GoldĀ® Membership has been absolutely worth it. I must say, my favorite feature of the service has got to be the 24/7 live webcam stream of Knighty's bedroom. That is one unbelievably active space, I tell ya. Anyway, if you don't have one yet, I very much recommend going out of your way to purchase an

Save Derpy! · 9:30pm Feb 27th, 2012

Hey everyone, I know I'm a little bit behind the curve with this one, but if you haven't already I really implore you to sign the "Save Derpy" petition at www.savederpy.com. Derpy hasn't ever been my favorite character, and she certainly isn't now, but regardless of that I still feel it's entirely unfair that they're trying to go back and remove the little shout-out that all of us bronies got. She isn't just a character anymore, she's a symbol of our influence as a community and our persistence as fans of the show, and it's not our fault that a small minority of culturally ignorant parents got offended by a character who was not in any way meant to be offensive. If anything Snails is more offensive (Cutie mark = snail = special talent of BEING SLOW). This is unfair, unjust, and a backhanded slap in the face to Bronies everywhere, plus there are an unacceptably low number of signatures on the petitions. Thank you if you support the cause, and if you don't, well I think I speak for the entire brony community when I say we still love and tolerate you all the same, we just might do a little more "Tolerating" than "Loving".

The true offense is that she was changed at all. Derpy is not, to be blunt, retarded, but what kind of message does that send to people who really are? :facehoof:

I am completely with ya Samsara. As i was never a big derpy fan (I still don't understand the crazy amount of love she gets) the fact that they went ahead and changed everything about her is more than a little dubious. I can understand why some might feel like it was a slap in the face. And I thought the same thing you did about snails. Derpy may be a cross-eyed klutz, but if anyone is portrayed as even a little bit retarded (slow/ mentally-handicapped/ whatever) in this show, then it would be snails.

And Hazama brings up a good point as well. If this whole thing was ignored it would have gone away eventually, but them caving to pressure certainly says a lot more about this whole affair than the few words derpy ever spoke.

Additionally, though I have already signed the petition, for me, that is where it ends. However, for others pursuing this further, I certainly hope people aren't bombarding hasbro/hub with rude and/or crazy emails. That would be no way to deal with this situation and would accomplish nothing but making the brony community seem insane.
Please deal with this in a civilized way people.

Completely agree. If Derpy was so offensive, then what about the barking mental patient pony? What about Patrick Star from Spongebob? What about Goofy? Ed from Ed, Edd and Eddy?

People need to stop being so determined to find offence where there is none. If anything all they've achieved is to alienate the handicapped further. What would be better- a handicapped character in a kids show who is loved and accepted by her friends anyway, who keeps a cheerful attitude, or the hasty covering up of anything that could even vaguely imply mental disability? What they are essentially saying is that the handicapped are not 'good enough' for the media and need to be 'fixed'. And that is the REAL offence.

That said, I do not condone the hateful and poorly planned messages that some members of the fandom are sending. It is good to be angry about this, but make sure you are angry for the right reasons, and that you can keep that anger in check and explain this to Hasbro calmly and rationally.

I have a special place in my heart for Ditzy, fandubbed Derpy, though she is not my favorite. If the writers at Hasbro decided to call her Derpy to give a shout out to the bronies, all's well and good. I don't mind that I'm one of the few of the MLP fandom to call her Ditzy, and I don't mind Hasbro calling her Derpy. But when a bunch of butthurt people scream bloody mary because they were upset that Derpy was portrayed similarly to a mentally handicapped person... wow.

Now, I know I sound offensive by this. If I do, oh well. I have several brony friends (about four, maybe five, off the top of my head) who are handicapped. Not once have they complained about the way Hasbro wrote Ditzy in "The Last Roundup." In fact, they cheered them on. They thought it was great: Ditzy was finally getting some attention. None of them have sent angry emails, or any emails period, to Hasbro/Hub for the revision. I know, because I do routine electronic security for them (least I could do, that's what friends are for), running virus scans, etc. I'll skim through their received/sent emails to check for scams/frauds, etc., and haven't seen a thing.

Who exactly was it that got on Hasbro's/Hub's case for this whole thing? It wouldn't happen to be the "American Family Association," would it? Those idiots are pretty whack.

I love Derpy, but I actually didn't like her portrayal in the episode, when compared to my own ideals of what she's like. That said, I loved the way they portrayed Derpy, because she was, in fact, a total ditz. And, I couldn't help but squeal with delight at how cute she was. If people are angry that there's a less-than-perfect pony out there, let me ask this question.

Did they raise a banner against Cranky Doodle Donkey?

And, if the answer is no, then those people got at least one thing right. And, as for the Derpy haters, I detest of your actions, but would gladly welcome you in for a cup of tea, a mug of coffee, or a nice hefty pint of beer, if you feel so inclined, and we can have a nice conversation about the what's and wherefore's of your Derpy hate and my Derpy love.

To all of you out there, reading this comment, I thank you for your time. Let us hope that Hasbro does the right thing.

Hmmm, Hasbro deleting derpy?
