6 months anniversary · 12:40am Jan 10th, 2013
Well, just noticed today that barring maybe being a few days off, the first chapter of Brand New Powers is 6 months old or so. I have read it again and I am surprised how I have grown as a writer. No, I' m not saying I'm perfect, far from it. And actually I had been lurking this site for two months before. I have to say there have been a lot of good days, a lot of bad days, and average days. But, never while on this site. I have read more great works of fiction in 6 months than I would have thought our fandom could create.
Now on how I got into writing fanfics. Actually, I remember trying to write a fantasy novel when I was 10 or so, based around fantasy ideas. Unfortunately, I never completed it past the cast of characters, got bored with it as 10 year olds are wont to do and deleted it forever. Now I only have the hazy memory of it. This I now look back in sadness.
Fast forward, 8 years. I had seen this awesome show called, well you know, and I was worried about how people would see me. Thankfully, this was in February and I graduated in May, so I could care less in terms of school worries.
May was also when I got the idea to write Brand New Powers, but I had to get enough courage to actually get on this site. That push came in the form of reading Fallout: Equestria. This one fan-fiction made me feel feels that I never felt before and solidified the idea that fanfiction actually got a bad rap for nothing. (Except trollfics and gore fics without much plot.) The Gorefic line is now funny in hindsight because I challenged myself to such an idea, just it had no real well- thought out plot. (I digress)
After reading Fallout:Equestria and having an ocean of feels drown me in the experience. I was ready for the fanfic writing. And that is it.
I thank all of you followere from the first to the last. i even sort of treasure the dislikes, for someone had to find my story against headcanon to dislike it. But, soon I will start on the next chapter of fanfic writing. (Homage to both steampunk and westerns. Or at least my spin on them)
Thanks again, Flutterdash94
