Smash Ultimate Mansion of Madness: Looking for New Ideas

It's finally time. Time to fulfill my duty as a fanfiction writer who's trying to manage a cast larger than the MCU using the organization skills of a feral raccoon. That's right: I made a Google Form. And not just any Google Form. This is the sacred scroll, the golden gateway, the digital dumpster fire where people can dump their Smash Bros. Ultimate ideas for my AO3 fanfic.

So back in March, I told you about my Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Mansion of Madness story (also available in Spanish), a first entry on a trilogy where I attempt to make a coherent story using a cast of 89 characters, technically 92 if you wanna count the announcer, Master and Crazy Hand.

Imagine writing a story with over 80 characters, each with the personality range of a Shakespearean actor on five cans of Monster Energy. Now imagine trying to come up with new plots for all of them without slowly turning into that guy who screams about timelines and Pepe Silvia. That's me. Hi.

So why did I turn to Google Forms, the digital equivalent of slapping a "Suggestion Box" onto a high-speed rollercoaster? Because I'm out of my mind: Mansion of Madness alone will have 250 chapters. No, I'm not kidding: this is the longest story I will ever conceive because if I already did 80 chapters of Tell Your Tale for the Sonic x MLP G5 Saga, I know I can make the triple of that and then some.

However, I'm still a lonely wolf, and even though I have gotten suggestions from other users on Ao3 itself, from a good friend of mine on Twitter, and even from Flamewarrior02 himself, besides the things I've written on my own, of course, I only got down to 94 chapters planned down, and 43 (by the time of this post) written with just 40 published.

As you can see, I'm desperate for a solution...

But that's when it hit me. "What if I let them decide?" You know, them. The readers. The lurkers. The cryptid-like beings who leave kudos but no comments. Surely, they have ideas. And thus, I created the Google Form. A divine, cursed object. A beacon of collaboration. A tool of chaos.

Why a form and not a Discord server? Because I'm not ready to babysit a digital Chuck E. Cheese filled with 14-year-olds roleplaying as Dark Pit. This way, I get all the ideas without having to moderate a 3 a.m. shipping war between two people arguing if Snake should date Isabelle.

So what does this form look like? Glad you ask. It's a simple docs with an only (obligatory) answer where you'll leave your suggestion. But to do that, I created a few rules for WHAT can be suggested:

1. Suggestions must include plot and which characters to use.

No much science behind this idea. All you have to do is explain what you want the chapter to be about and which characters will be relevant to the plot. Simple, right?

2. Only suggest ideas that involve the roster (89 fighters).

Somebody suggested me not so long ago to make an Undertale focused chapter... an Undertale chapter, a franchise that only has a remixed song and a Mii Costume on the game, a franchise that is not actually in Smash Bros., a franchise that has not actual characters from its game in Smash. Suggestions like this aren't wrong, but I'm not gonna use characters that aren't actual fighters, you know.

Mii Costumes don't really count to me because I always saw them as "Oh, we couldn't get the rights to make this character a fighter, so here's your consolation prize: a skin for a customized character barely anyone uses in the game at all".

To put it simple: Ideas with characters not playable in the game, which also includes assist trophies, will not be accepted. If you wanna make a suggestion, MAKE SURE they're a character from the list below:

3. No romance suggestions. It isn't a focus in the story.

I'm a sucker for romance, you guys know that already. If I could spend the rest of my life writing romance, you know damn well that I would... but Smash isn't about romance, it's about characters from different games beating the shit out of each other, so let's try to keep it in line with that.

And if your suggestion has nothing to do with fighting, that's completely fine AS LONG as it is not romantic.

4. No NSFW suggestions will be accepted.

This is a no brainer. While sometimes there are adult jokes and insults, it won't pass from there. No suggestion that goes under the lines of "X character makes out for 3 hours with Y character" will be even considered. I'll probably just laugh it off and then move on.

And there it is. My Smash Ultimate fanfic is now partially crowdsourced.

So please, fill out the form. Feed me your chaos. Give me your weird, your wild, your incredibly specific requests involving King Dedede starting a podcast. I am ready. My sanity is not.
