TDIH (April 10th, 1925): "The Great Gatsby" is published · 6:17pm April 10th
Today, 100 years ago, author F. Scott Fitzgerald published probably his most revered novel, "The Great Gatsby".
(The following is a brief summary of the plot):
F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby is a portrait of the Jazz Age and the American Dream's corruption. Narrated by Midwesterner Nick Carraway, the story takes place in the summer of 1922 in the fictional Long Island town of West Egg. Nick becomes entangled in the lives of his cousin Daisy Buchanan and his mysterious neighbor, Jay Gatsby, a wealthy man known for his extravagant parties and unrequited love for Daisy
To this day, this book remains a staple amongst upper highschool learning material and college thesis material. This was in fact the last book my graduating class read for English 12 (appropriate due to our prom theme being "Roaring 20s/Great Gatsby" and that my entire graduating class all had birthdays that mostly began with '98 or '99---maybe 5 that had '97, myself included. Therefore we coined it our "Roarin' 90s" prom). Anywho, this book, I feel was definitely ahead of it's time in some ways, but thinking that can also bring to mind that this book is definitely a product of it's time and also timeless at the same time. Strange? Yes. Beautiful? Absolutely! Really long to read? This is why we read a couple chapters per class period!:
There have been 5 theatrical adaptations of this film (thought only 4 can be found, due to the version from 1926 being lost media). The most recent being from 2013.
And now, since I'm inspired by a nostalgia that I really shouldn't have, here's a Roaring 20s playlist:
Ahhh....if only live music could still be like this today.
Anyhow, that is all! Cheers for 100 years of amazement!

Very Nice
I have never read this book (may do so someday), but it is now inextricably linked to Gravity Falls for me thanks to Bill Cipher.
