I've been absent as of late due to falling down a rabbit hole of sorts, what rabbit hole you ask? The Chat GPT rabbit hole, I'm promising you I only recently discovered it and have not been using it to write my stories.
I have started, however, using it to refine them, and iron out inconsistencies and misspells. and brainstorm some things I haven't been able to.
I just want to know, is this frowned upon? Using an AI to winnow out mistakes and brainstorm when I'm stuck? I'm not sure so I'm publicly asking before doing so.
And before you say, I have asked for help on some forums, but nobody responded to some of them.
I just need some help and Chat GPT could be that help, but I'm wondering if using it detracts from the experience any? What say you guys?
Not a fan of AI.
I feel like as long as you're using it for inspiration and not to actually make the stories, I think it's okay
It's fun to look up information with AI. It's always good to double check the information on a browser though because sometimes AI will give you a random answer that isn't correct. It is a lot of the time though, and you can learn a lot of stuff by using it for research.
Sometimes yes to be honest I am guilty of using Gemini but I mostly use it for self indulgence sometimes I intend to turn the stories I make with it into proper stories after refining them to be Less AI and even some Image generation but again it's just for personal amusement nothing more nothing less.
Honestly go with your instincts.
Though it might be meme-worthy to see what wonky stuff Ai might do.
I don't mind at all. It's better to see better stories a little more often (and to see them at all) than not to use such a useful resource. To be honest, I've been in this community for many years now and I've always wanted writers to have a helper like this, so that so many amazing stories would still be alive. I don't see a problem with this unless it slides into absurd AI plots, and if you add to your thought, correct something, then no problem
I dislike ChatGpt when it’s used to replace the brain, skill and creativity of any kind of artist, writers included. But when it’s used as a glorified auto correct or style assistant, it’s fine. As long of course you check the result and appropriate it, not mindlessly paste it :)

honestly partially same but when you use it as inspiration and spellchecker... I'll give that a pas

Spell checking programs are decades old at this point and I use them without question ... and even then I worry we've lost something.
