Captain America: Brave New World: Papa Doc VS. Indiana Jones! (My Thoughts) · 10:41am February 26th
Hey guys!
I recently watched the new Captain America movie and here's my thoughts.
If you go back to 10 years ago and tell my younger self that Marvel is going to make a Captain America movie where Papa Doc from 8 Mile would be new Captain America and he would be fighting against Harrison Ford, I would be laughing at your face and yet, here we are.
To be honest, I was a bit concerned about this movie because there's a report about multiple reshoots and after my terrible experience with Secret Invasion, I was worried it would be very bad... to my surprise, I actually enjoys it.
This may be a controversial opinion but Harrison Ford did a better job as Thunderbolt Ross than William Hurt... sure, William Hurt was good at playing Ross but in this movie, Harrison Ford's Thunderbolt Ross was the best part of the film in my opinion.
This movie definitely shows why Sam Wilson earns the mantle of Captain America because he is Captain America.
Though, I have to warn you. You need to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier first because the show sets up the relationship for Sam & Isaiah as well Sam and Joaquin's relationship... it lay groundwork for this movie and I highly recommend to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier show first before watching this movie.
And this movie might be too political for your taste if you are uncomfortable with the politics stuff cause it's very political movie.
So it's up to you if you want to watch the movie but overall, I enjoys it.
Thanks for sharing, buddy.
I was similarly nervous about this movie, given how much controversy had surrounded it, but I'm glad that you were able to have a fun time watching it.
Because after all, that's the main point of movies; to just have fun watching the adventures of our favorite characters.
I actually watched this movie in theaters last week with my 2nd eldest sister & brother-in-law, and we really enjoyed it as well. True, it certainly wasn’t 100% perfect, but the film as a whole was more enjoyable than its mixed reception let on.
Also, I agree with you about Ford’s work as Thaddeus Ross. I enjoyed William Hurt’s performance as the character too, but looking back, Hurt primarily did a better job at making the character more antagonistic. Ford, meanwhile, brought forth a greater sense of redemption for Ross & splendidly portrayed his struggles to become a better man than before.
