Progress report on Maretian editing · 3:46am February 5th
Not actually editing yet- just making a first run at laying out pages to get a rough starting estimate I can use to get the printing quotes. That has to be done before I can set the Kickstarter goals.
But so far I'm up to Sol 105, which is the end of what will be Chapter Fourteen.
That comes in as page 276 (leaving eight pages for titles, dedications, etc. at the front).
In the Avonder editions, that was page 369, because I'm using slightly smaller font and slightly larger pages (the same settings used for Remember Fort Libris).
Format adjustments will probably end up adding pages back, and art definitely will- right now I've got nine interior illustrations in hand, and hope to have more.
Also, seriously considering a Secret Shipfic Folder mini-pack as an add-on, though that would seriously increase time and cost. But since I blew $75 on SFF cards at Harmonycon, I don't think I can prevent myself.
Add Ons are always worth it.
I actually lost my whole deck of SFF cards for *five* years. Knew they were in the house, but found out the wife put them into our "trip stuff" box instead of my "pony stuff" box. Still love her.
(Ye gads, the whole Maretin in dead tree format? Beats out War and Peace for wordcount?)
Oh My Celestia, I would love a TSSSF deck add-on! I've been toying with acquiring those cards for years! Speaking of add-ons, I've added two of the three CSP patches to my jeans (patching has resurrected a pair of comfortable boot-cut Levis). People do notice them. 8^D I'm pumped at getting a copy of The Maretian, although I'm torn between the options, an unabridged paperback set or the re-edited hardback. I'd been waiting on an Avoder reprint but it is still a very long way from garnering the crowd it would require to get moving. Your print starts funding in about two months! I guess I could call the books "extended cut" and "director's cut".
The Fort Libris font is crisp without any bleed or wobble.
5829408 I used Arial for almost all of Fort Libris (the main exception being Nightmare Moon's and Luna's hallucinatory dialog in "Seneschal"). I'll be using multiple fonts for Maretian (to make water-graphs, logs, and Ponish v. English pop more), and most of those were not designed for maximum clarity as Arial is.

Nice! Thank you. ^_^
omg, so excited. I missed the first printing of the maretian I shan't miss this one. And love collecting the tssf card packs (just need people to play with). Awesome
