The Rivalry Reignited · 3:58am January 1st
I have a longtime internet friend down in Fort Worth that has been racing me in various Sonic game stages since Sonic 4 launched in October 2010. We dueled over literal milliseconds in Splash Hill Act 1.
That then moved over to Sonic Generations the next year, where we raced for the top times in Chemical Plant Act 2 and Crisis City Act 2.
Now, with Shadow Generations, we've been racing Kingdom Valley 1.
A few days ago, both our times were in the 4:30 range.
I was the first to break the 4-minute mark. He quickly answered back with a 3:43.55, before running off to attend the sold-out Sonic Symphony in Dallas.
Yesterday, we answered back and forth; down and down our times went, as we studied videos of nutcase speedrunners and asked ourselves, "okay, what parts of this insanity are we capable of?"
(Skin only, no changes to the physics. Made that change because he called me weak, lol.)
Last night, we were 0.2 seconds apart:
(first time mine, second time his)
It was quickly becoming a question of who would break 3 minutes first. We were at the point where we were now sharing our footage with each other to improve on each other's routes and tricks (this has been a friendly 14-year rivalry).
Proud to say this afternoon, I did it.
So a shoutout to my awesome longtime rival UltimateHero1228. Without the footage of what he was doing, I never would have made adjustments, and I'm looking forward to my time being beaten with my footage.
Here's to another year of 'gotta go fast!'
Think I'll stay the hell away from this one. The only toehold I'd have in this is having S ranks in all the Radical Highways and Metal Overlord:
Radical Highway Act 1
Act 2
Metal Overlord (2:24:46)
Curse my Undiagnosed dyslexia I thought the tile of this said the Ryan Reynolds. I was sure at the end of this you would’ve learned that you’re for so many years was it Orion Reynold
