2024, The Year In Review · 3:00am January 1st
And so 2024 comes to a close. Even if it wasn't as bad for me as the back to back years of 2020 and 2021, it was still basically a disappointment in every sense of the word. And the first year with no new pony content to consume since 2020 really didn't help matters. Still, I managed to get through it (somehow), and kept this account going. So, how did this year pan out overall for me? Well, let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?
January
My first story of the year is published on January 4, "Royal Canterlot Sleepover". Then I update "The Baby Twily and Mommy Celestia Chronicles", a trend I will keep going all the way through November of this year. My first G5 story and the first story this year to hit the feature box is published January 16 in the form of "Old Mares Talking". Four days later, I begin my re-review session of all the G4 content I skipped during my big re-review marathon back in 2021, which again will take me all the way through November. At the end of the month, I publish my first padded pony fic of the year, a hypnosis fic involving Hitch entitled "Weekend at Gran Gran's", it will become one of five padded pony fics I publish in 2024.
February
I publish my first G4 padded pony fic and the first to ever star Tempest Shadow in the form of "Tempest's Padded Punishment" on February 3. I then continue a pattern of sorts of releasing one G4 fic and then one G5 fic, publishing a CheesePie story that is both a prequel and a sequel to "A Cheesy Reunion" in the form of "A Cheesy Arrival" and release it on Valentine's Day. I end the month with my first story featuring Comet in the form of "Home is Where the Horn Is" published on February 28.
March
The month begins with what will be my most viewed fic for 2024 "The Sad Story of Spike", which comes out on March 6. Then, by the time I've published "Rarity's Magical Boutique" I break from my G4 to G5 pattern and spend the rest of the month working on my crossover fanfic "Batmare and Super Dragon: Worlds Collide" to celebrate not only the year of the dragon but also Batman's 85th anniversary, and as such I publish it on March 30th to coincide with that milestone anniversary.
April
What was originally going to be a collab published on Yodajax10's account instead is brought to my account on April 2 in the form of "The Tale of Spike's Egg", and it unsurprisingly hits the feature box due to its focus on a headcanon about the origins of Spike's egg. Soon afterward, I host my yearly Q & A session, and publish the follow up on April 10. By this point I have been let go from my job at the museum that I was so hoping I could use to get my foot in the door and find something more suited to my interests and my double major. Meanwhile, the fics keep on coming as I publish "Diamond at a Crossroad" on April 15, and finally return to G5 proper with "Her Majesty's Special Helpers" on April 24, a fic focused on Thunder Flap and Zoom Zephyrwing.
May
I begin the month with "Unicorn Ageplay Tales", a trio of padded pony stories focused on the G5 unicorns: Comet, Misty, and Izzy. Then, most of the month is spent on a rewrite of the 2017 FiM movie to fit into my "What If?" universe. But just after it's finished, I learn that my dad plans to leave the job he's held due to a planned merger that he's been opposed to, so I rush to establish a separate account for paid commissions through Paypal. That account, CSPB2024 (which is still available), is brought online on May 28th. Three days later, I wrap up the month by publishing "Flurry's Favorite Dragon", a fic involving older Flurry Heart and Spike, and one based on a request. Ultimately, my most active month on the site.
June
"Return of the Washouts" is my first fic of the month, it gets published on June 8. Then, for Father's Day, I release my next G5 fic, a brief one focused on Sunny writing a letter to Argyle, and of all my fanfics in 2024 it's the one with the fewest words, it doesn't even hit 1,500. The month ends with the release of "Crystal Blood", a story focused on Cadence and Prince Blueblood, and it ends up hiting the feature box briefly on June 24. The next day, I bring "Diapered Crusader Sleepover" from Fanfiction.net and Deviant Art to FiMFiction and spruce it up, but keep it on the backburner and do not actually release it until August 1st. By this point, I learn that my dad is going to stay at his job, so the commissions account is not urgently needed, but I opt to keep it around anyway even though I ultimately only get one paid commissions by the end of the year.
July
I return to G5 with "Horn to Heart", a ship fic between Comet and Misty that gets published on July 3. The next day, July 4, I manage to reach the 1,100 followers milestone. From there, I spend the rest of the month working on and uploading first an Equestria Girls fic to celebrate Rainbow Rocks' tenth anniversary, said fic being "The New Friendship Games" that's released on July 13. Then "Protecting the Princess", a G5 fic involving Pipp and Sprout, gets released on July 24.
August
On August 1, "Diapered Crusader Sleepover" is officially uploaded and released. Then, five days later, the G5 train continues with "The Sheriff's New Deputy", a fanfic involving Hitch and Zipp that is not a ship fic (unless you count friendshipping), and it ends up becoming my 300th total fanfic. My episode re-reviews get shuffled around a little since my family and I go on vacation to Orlando Florida for my 30th birthday, visiting the theme parks. Just before we leave, I release "Letters Between Pies", my first completely original (meaning it didn't originate on another site first) non CheesePie Pinkie Pie fic since "Freaky Flutterpie" all the way back in 2021. While all that is ongoing, I work on the eighteenth volume of my "What If?" series, and by the end of the month I have published and completeted it.
September
I open up the month with what ends up being my last G5 fic of the year to hit the feature box in the form of "Blossoming in the Misty", a Misty fanfic exploring a detail that went unaddressed in G5 after all that was revealed. I then release "The Princess and the Twins", a story involving a grown-up Flurry Heart and the Cake Twins on September 12. And a week later, "Rocky's Rockin' Proposal", a ship fic for Rocky Riff and Jazz Hooves is released.
October
To celebrate FiM's anniversay, I release "Twilight Crusaders" on October 10 after having managed to complete it back in September. "Violet by the Maretime" comes next on October 18, and then my last fanfic to hit the feature box all year in the form of "Young, Magical Reunion" is released October 23rd, a story involving the grown-up mane six.
November
After having worked on "Pies Meet Cakes", a sequel to "Cakes and Pies", back in October, I publish it on November 2. And about a week after wrapping my re-reviews for good with a look back at "A New Generation", I release "Potty Training Tales II", a G5 fanfic that serves as a spiritual successor of sorts to the original "Potty Training Tales" from 2019. Then, after one last update of "The Baby Twily and Mommy Celestia Chronicles" right after Thanksgiving, I release "The Wishihoof Shoes" as my final G5 fic of the year. And it ends up being my least viewed fic of the entire year and my least viewed fic of all time to date, only barely crossing the 100 views threshold by the end of the year.
December
My least active month on the entire site. I only publish one fanfic in the form of "Gifts of Lime", a story involving Limestone Pie and Pinkie Pie. Aside that and the obligatory Christmas update blog, I don't upload anything of significance on this account for the rest of the year. I manage to end the year with 312 stories published and 1,130 followers total. I don't know if I'll break the 350 story milestone in 2025 (I feel like I'll more likely cross it in 2026 if I'm still writing and publishing stories on this account by then, we'll have to see where the inspiration and where life take me), and I can't imagine my followers count getting much higher. I'm still going to keep my commissions account up for anyone who might want to request paid stories. And as for what I'll do with no more episodes, movies, or specials to re-review, we'll just have to wait and see. If any real life changes come up that might affect my writing, I'll do my best to keep you all informed. I'm hopefully going to find at least another part time job somewhere so I can start making and saving more money, because I think I've only got about two to two and a half more years before I'll need to start thinking about moving out and living on my own.
yeah, happy new year to you too, lets hope it will be better than last year
