Top 10 BEST Movies of 2024 · 9:26pm Dec 31st, 2024
Like I promised (as if y'all had a choice. π), Here's my Top 10 BEST movies of 2024! Feel free to disagree if you must. These are all my personal opinions as stated. Very well, shall we?:
10.): Dune pt. II: Honestly it had potential to be good and it was! I only had a couple gripes about it, but otherwise it was a reasonably good sequel to 2021's Dune. 5/10 s
9.): Mean Girls (2024): Remember; this is based off the BROADWAY production! NOT the 2004 film of the same name. Yes it felt campy in a way that only a early 2024 film could manage. Yet as a musical film, it was strong for the most part. 4.5/10 s
8.): Mufasa: The Lion King: Ok I honestly only saw this last weekend and I will say this; THANK GODS THE ANIMALS ARE MORE EXPRESSIVE IN THIS ONE!!! Seriously, if y'all saw 2019's The Lion King, then ya know those critters looked dead eyed and souless. An interesting premise as an origin story of the two fated brothers of Mufasa and Taka (Scar). Voice cast was pretty on point ans I gotta give lil miss Blue Ivy Carter her dues for her very first acting role! She did great and worked off the older cast so well! Overall 7.2/10 s
7.): Venom: The Last Dance: Okay hear me out! Between all 3 movies, yes it was the weakest. Yet it definitely was a helluva way to end a trilogy! 5/10 s
6.): Deadpool & Wolverine: It was great. That is all. 6.2/10 s
5.): The Six Triple Eight: Ok so this one just came on Netflix right before Christmas and y'all--YA NEED TO WATCH IT! Yes, Tyler Perry is attached to this historical drama, yet the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during WWII is an astounding one! I won't spoil anything as usual, but I highly recommend this one! 8.9/10 s
4.): The Wild Robot: Ok full disclosure, I did have to pirate this one. I let my Peacock premium lapse and had no other option but to do that. Anyways, for an adaptation of a children's book, this is where DreamWorks should've been in 2023! Yet now we know why they were building it up! Despite my thoughts on Kung Fu Panda 4, DreamWorks has actually had a pretty good year! This one was beautiful visually and story wise it was a generally faithful adaptation of The Wild Robot. 8/10 s
3.): Gladiator II: (Disclaimer. Only just saw this on Saturday). DAMN!!! I already loved the first film from 2000, but I was NOT expecting Paramount to pull this off successfully. I was happily proven wrong and this is a worthy sequel! 9.5/10 s
2.): Out of My Mind: Based on the 2010 book of the same name by author Sharon M. Draper, this 2024 film is a honestly faithful adaptation of the story of Melody Brooks. A non-verbal, preteen girl with Cerebral Palsy who learns that not only does she have a voice, but that she CAN be heard no matter what! I cannot cohesively describe my excitement and honest love of this movie. There's a small tissue warning now for some scenes. There. You've been warned but it's not what you think! Anyways a solid 10/10 s here.
Honorable mention(s): Bad Boys: Ride or Die: Man despite me still saying them teo is gettin' too old to still be doing this sh*t, Martin and Will still got it goin' on! 11/10 s. Inside Out 2: That's twice in 9 years that Pixar has made me feel ALL my feels for a movie! Dangit! 11/10
s
And finally for this year, the #1 movie I suggest for 2024 is....
1.): Wicked (pt.I): Honestly, I had been absolutely geekin' about this one all year and when I finally saw it the weekend before my birthday, I was floored! So much to say and not a lot of time to say it! Thisππ½ Wasππ½ IT!ππ½! I can hardly wait for November 21st, 2025 (for part 2)! Don't be surprised if pt.II shows up on next year's list!π€£β€οΈ 25/10 s
Anyways that's a wrap for this year's list! I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year's and I'll be back for my 2025 post. Til then, I'm off to get ready for a party!
That is all,

I went to go see Mufasa : The Lion King with my grandmother this afternoon and it was great! What a way to start the new year!

Excellent. As my thoughts yesterday say, I thought it was a wonderful movie and that tribute in the beginning to James Earl Jones made me and my sister cry a bit.
