#BeatTheBacklog Update 2: Half-Life 2 Complete · 1:28am Dec 10th, 2024
My second game of my backlog is complete.
While I technically beat this one before, on the Xbox 360, this was a first on the PC.
And honestly, I'm not quite ready to dive into the DLC. One because I know the maddening cliffhanger that was only recently resolved in 2020 with Half-Life Alyx, that's a game I do not have, nor have the hardware to play. Plus, the final two hours of Half-Life 2 was more annoying than I remember. Everything from the Strider fights on was pretty much like pulling teeth, super-charged Gravity Gun and all. Half-Life 1 didn't bring any more clarity to this game's narrative.
So now, my plan was to go to Satisfactory next, as it achieved 1.0 release this year, but it hasn't really kept my attention for more than 30 minutes, before I either get confused or I'm killed from wildlife that I'm not equipped to deal with yet. So, my next backlog game will be:
Age of Empires IV. I've been in an RTS mood recently.
I'm also going to commit to the following annoyances:
- Playing SWTOR with strictly a keyboard and mouse, instead of my aging Razer Nostromo.
- Writing on my 8BitDo Retro Keyboard instead of my Logitech G815 low profile.
My front USB 3.0 USB port died this afternoon, and I'm fairly certain that the slightly damaged plug of my 13-year old Razer Nostromo is to blame. That, and I plug things in and out of it daily. So no more of that. I'm being frugal as it is, so let's see if I can set enough aside to perhaps replace this PC by next November, because this one had a lack of USB ports as it is, and now I don't have enough to stream for Extra Life 2025.
Plus, this PC is approaching six years old, it's time for a full upgrade. Here's hoping nothing else breaks in the next year.
