In an effort to keep my mind on not spending any money on non-essentials for the rest of the year and into 2025, I'm making a hashtag.
#BeatTheBacklog
I want to finally tackle most or all of the games I got at stupid sale prices but never made time for, or, in this case, games that threw a hissy fit on my QHD ultrawide or 4K monitors (I bought a 1080p monitor for streaming for Extra Life).
First up: Black Mesa, the fan remake of Half-Life 1.
My only concern is the game's puzzles, which multiple reviewers have said are less simple and more "how the hell was I supposed to figure that out?" after looking up solutions.
After that, I'm probably going to boot up Half-Life 2 and check out some of the improvements they put in for the 20th anniversary a few days ago.
I'm more than likely just setting myself up to be mad at Valve again for not finishing Half-Life 2's goddamn story in over 20 years.
I haven't hit Lambda Complex yet so I don't even know what they did with Xen... But if memory serves the puzzles were pretty much the same as the original ones.
On a related note for HL2

That's a part of the reason I want to replay, so I can watch that.

It's all behind the scenes of the game. I'm to the second to last chapter and it's something you can enjoy with basically no knowledge of Valve or Half-Life. Might still be worth playing the games through first if you're going to watch it on stream though... Content is content after all.

I've thought about if I want to stream semi-regularly, haven't decided yet. Not sure I could be chatty enough. But all my stuff is still plugged in, so maybe.
I haven't played Half-Life 2 in over ten years, last time was on the 360 as part of the Orange Box, I've never completed it on PC.
Sounds fun. (Looks at my backlog) I could do something along those lines. (Looks at Metroid Prime 4 release date) Okay, so maybe I can make room for one new game.

I still need to play MP3.
Unless they port it, I'll never get that chance.
