SIGNAL BOOSTS: Furniture Shopping and Sari-Sari · 12:21am Nov 18th, 2024

Got a new story for the not-a-contest for y'all, as well as an 'almost in.'

Source

First up is Rat Smacker's Furniture Shopping. Y'all know that one of the stories that launched this whole contest involved a mare working in a retail store (for a third-party employer, but the point's the same).

And who doesn't want to go to a store with salesponies instead of salespeople? Even if they're pushy.

Not to mention, who doesn't love IKEA?

It's a delightful story with a twist I didn't expect.

TFurniture Shopping
James needs a new sofa for his living room. Fortunately, there's an IKEA just on the other side of town.

Second up, we've got CortezDude's Sari-Sari.

This one is kinda the reverse of the other—it's a human operating a sari-sari shop in Ponyville.

ESari-Sari
A Filipino Man living in Ponyville, Equestria and his life in there whilst owning a Sari-Sari Store.

One of the things that I particularly like about this story is that it involves a culture other than the typical Western/American stories we generally see, and I'd like to see more of those. I know I've got readers in other parts of the world.

Hey, thanks for reviewing my story, Admiral! Think you can do the Buenas Pilipinas one?

Darnit, now I need to finish Home and Love Garden Supplies.

The not-a-contest keeps giving!

huh. I always thought it was just Sari. Not Sari-sari.
Here I am learning things just from a title.

The word "Sari-Sari" means "variety" in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines and it's common to see those small stores in our country.
