SockPuppet

I like writing about the worst day of a character's life; it lets us see the mettle inside. (Pronouns: RB/20 )

    Anyway hi

Been eight weeks since I logged in. Real life, etc., etc. It's been not good but also not anything all'y'all need to worry about.

Anyway, see you in, uh, hopefully less than eight weeks next time?

    Sock out.

    Amazing story

When the chaplain and a damage control officer get the Medal of Honor, and twenty others get Navy Crosses, you know shit got real. I've been waiting for this episode to drop, and it doesn't disappoint:

Unauthorized History of the Pacific War: USS Franklin

    A blessed thing

Oh my Cthulhu. What did we do that we deserved two excellent animated movies in one year? I previously praised Inside Out 2; however, I think The Wild Robot was even better.

I'm not going to try to summarize. Just — wooooowwwww. The acting? Sharp. The writing? Pitch perfect. The art? Astounding. It looks like paintings, not CGI.

    The Apparent end of G5

Lots of discussion on various Discord servers about Hasbro pulling the plug on G5.

The hill I will die on:

    • The Netflix movie was AMAZINGLY good
    • The shows started well but deteriorated quickly

12 Seconds Of Silence: How a Team of Inventors, Tinkerers, and Spies Took Down a Nazi Superweapon, Holmes

I learned about this from this Spies and Ties episode. The summary video is interesting enough --- the full book is an AMAZING story of politics, science, and combat. Highly recommended.

I first read Jurassic Park in high school, waiting for the movie to hit theatres. I think I re-read it once or twice in the years immediately after, but hadn't touched it since. I just re-read it.

Lunadamn, this book is good. I mean, Crichton is always good, but this was GOOD. I particularly liked how simple and straightforward the writing was, in order to carry the big action and big ideas. I've added Rising Sun to my Audible queue, I've never read that one, but it, too, was a big topic of discussion between classes when the movie was just out and I was in high school.

Six Air Forces Over the Atlantic: How Allied Airmen Helped Win the Battle of the Atlantic, Molyson. Interesting. A little short and perfunctory, but good.

Currently reading Under the Southern Cross: The South Pacific Air Campaign Against Rabaul, which is really good so far, and also currently re-reading The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916, an all-time favorite.
