Today is the day for avoiding conversation with our loved ones by giving them a bunch of video games and other consumerist crap so that they'll shut up and leave you alone while you raid the liquor cabinet. A day for disappointment and washing new socks. A day for getting drunk at the only dive bar in town that is still open tonight and telling people you're Jewish.

For one thing, the expanding walls mean that you can erase mistakes that would have been otherwise suicidal. The raising ceiling gives you options that regular Tetris doesn't entertain. The whole way they changed it opens up a wealth of new strategies.
And, as far as the points? Part of why I quit playing video games about a decade ago is I realized that a little number on the screen is utterly meaningless. If you're worried about points I have a program for you. It is in BASIC:

When I was in High School, the graphing calculators they gave us could be programmed in BASIC. Since I never paid attention in math class anyway, I made a robot fighting game. You bought missiles and lasers, or whatever, stuck them on your little guy and then got wiped out in a fight because I'd fucked up one of godfuck thousands of lines causing the enemy to have infinite health.
Oops.
It took almost the entire semester to get all the kinks worked out, and then it was time to turn the calculator back in over Summer break and all my hard work was probably wiped.
Thus began and ended my interest in coding.
It is more I named it Hell because it is an infinite loop from which there is no escape.

There are more modern languages that have different and far easier to read/analise syntax, you should take up something. Maybe python or pascal.
Also, funny thing I noticed about humans: Either you are able to learn, and are able to master programming to some degree if you do not decide to stop giving a shit, or no matter how much time you spend learning, you will never progress.
I guess this has something to do with creativity.

That is why I made my "game.". All you have to do is turn it on and whee, watch those points go up.
Futiltris held about the same enjoyment value for me as regular Tetris. A little more, since it was a novel experience.
The funny part is that trying to lose gets you the same result as trying to win, but it gets you there faster.
