Pipes Sequel · 3:41am September 7th
Hey y'all. I'm currently working slowly on a blog post that covers a presentation I recently gave at Everfree Northwest (on Horror, its subgenres, and my advice for writing it).
Meanwhile, a fellow member of Quills and Sofas Speedwriting, Caligari, has published an expansion of one of my stories: Pipes.
This was part of a Quills contest called Expanding Universes, where the goal was to write a sequel, prequel, or expansion of a prompt fic. I chose Pipes for this go around, and Caligari and I swapped fics by random chance. While I wrote What Was It For? as a sequel to We Don't Go Past the Garden Wall, (which you should 100% read both of if you haven't yes), Caligari wrote Pieces as a sequel to Pipes.
Pieces does a fantastic job as a sequel, creeping back in Twilight’s suppressed fears from Pipes while giving the events a satisfying explanation and conclusion. I love how well Caligari switches the mood of the scene into one full of dread, just as I tried to do in Pipes.
Please go give it a read! While only chapter 1 is out now, it'll get updated over the next few days.
Also I'm still trying to work on Mares in the Moon. Don't expect any new chapters until it's finished or very close to done, but I'm making progress!
Glad to hear news about Mares in the Moon.
Will definitely check Pieces.
(I like an experience where other authors write something within the universe of other author's fiction.)
