Hey folks, poking in on break really quick for a small status update. Technically I'd promised word-count updates on my Ko-fi aaaages ago, so let's see if I can at least occasionally slip in a teaser or two...
The sheer fact I'm writing, at work, on break, on my phone, using the fimfiction editor, successfully, has made me deeply afraid.
This isn't the only project in the works, buuuuut...
It is one that I want to get rolling as soon as possible

David let out a yawn, stretching out of his hunch-over on the couch. At this point, he was more than used to hearing that. He'd swear the motor in his freakin' phone was close to giving out.
It miiight be wise to take it off vibrate, but... Nah. He'd never take it off vibrate. That's the only correct setting.
Reaching out to his phone, he gently scooped it into his hands and took a look at the time... He'd been up all night. Not helped by the same pony who popped into his notifications, who didn't seem to be ready to sleep until it was practically midnight.
Though to be fair, he'd gotten absorbed into carving out a little table-top statue of an Ursa Minor in the meantime, as they talked. He never really took himself for the creative type, but with way too much time to burn here, it was actually kind of therapeutic.
... Granted most of his hobbies back home involved technology, so, he wasn't exactly provided with many options. Though he enjoyed a bit of amateur photography too, it... He wouldn't touch his gallery.
His mood dampened, but he swiped his phone open anyways. Quickly navigating to his messages, before the notification number could skyrocket.
-"Adventure!"
He raised an eyebrow, seeing a picture of Cadance flying to the side of a train's engine- the thing wasn't moving, but it seems like she had been when she took the picture, to try and make an illusion of it.
He could swear that ever since Celestia had figured out how to handle that thing with her magic, the idiot had gotten herself into increasingly precarious positions to take impressive or funny pictures. And she didn't even have social media to perform for!
"-Aaaadventure!"
Aaand now she was hanging out of a window, her wings flared out and mane blowing in the wind. Judging by the perspective, she was floating her freaking phone outside a moving train.
"Adventure?"
And yet he couldn't help but play into it a bit.
-"ADVENTURE!"
This time she was just sticking her tongue out at him, leaning backwards against the now-closed window. It made him chuckle. Especially the shadow of a pony behind her, who judging by the raised hoof was giving her an earful.
If he had learned anything about this dork... she was the annoying, clingy, oversharing type. But he didn't really mind it too much. It kept his mind off of things, and she was... fun. Especially since he didn't have to pay any data charges for her excessive image spam. That? That was on her own magic.
And she had learned after the first video she'd tried to send to be conservative about it. Lest she gets a headache, or manaburn herself. She'd only tried doing a 24 frames-per-second one, but even then that was an overload. He'd have felt worse about laughing when it happened, if it weren't for the fact she had tried to send him a video of her giving him the wing equivalent of a middle-finger, after receiving a proper picture of one from him. For... cultural studies, totally.
"So, where are you going then, miss adventure?" He started to type again, leaning back into his couch in a position he knew all to well from back home. As did his spine, to it's cries of anguish. "Or is this a 'you're the butt of the joke' thing?"
-"Adventure~"
"Duly noted. Well, happy you managed to convince Celestia to let you out anyways. I'm guessing wherever you're going I'm going to get spammed images of whatever you think is interesting, or a couple you want me to judge as 'cute or not,' right?"
-"Ad-ven-TURE~"
"I'm gonna get some sleep, then, if you can't talk yet."
He closed his phone, letting his hand drop lazily against his forehead as another yawn escaped him.
Bzz-zzz-zzz-zzz-
-"Adventure"
-"Adventure"
-"Adventure!"
-"Adventure?"
-"Adventure..."He set it to sleep again.
...
Bzzt...
-"Okay, am I not allowed to be EXCITED about getting out of that dang place?"
"You can, when you use your words."
-"I was using my words! In fact a very apt one. True skill is demonstrated in how few words you can use to get your point across, not more!"
"Adventure."
-"I swear to the stars above if you play my game I will... I don't know, I'll do SOMETHING though!"
"Adventure."
-"I'm sorry please keep me company I hate this train-ride, the ones heading down Canterlot mountain are 90% tunnel and there is nothing to do or see, it's so empty in here too I can't even find any cute couples to bother."
Snrk.
"Why didn't you fly then?"
-"Think I'm gonna travel anywhere without some luggage?"
"I don't know, you seem pretty strong, I could see you carrying your bag. You kick pretty hard, at least."
There was a pause for a moment, before she started to type again...
-"You're never going to let that go, are you?"
"Adventure."
-"Buck you."
He cackled, fidgeting himself comfortably against the couch as he felt a few distinct waves of tiredness set in.
"You seem really desperate for that, bring it up several times a day. I'm starting to get concerned for your general health, you need to get out more."
Every second after that, felt like a lifetime. But he didn't regret it at all.
-"Buck. You."
-"(Like lovingly though but I bucking hate you sometimes)""All the time."
-"Would I be 'messaging' you this much if I did?"
"I dunno, masochism seems to be in this year. Just ask the nobles 'excited' for the next Grand Galloping Gala."
-"I just choked up and several ponies stared at me, I hope you're proud of yourself."
"Very."
-"Jeez, what kind of mood are you in today! You're not fun and curious like usual!"
"The kind where I was up all night. Also adventure, you killed my curiosity."
-"Cranky-pants. You're no fun."
"Clingy-filly. Go find some, then."
-"Duh, what do you think I'm doing?"
"Ramming your head against a wall repeatedly and hoping it breaks?"
-"To paraphrase you here, I am very strong."
"But are you strong enough to keep my eyes open?"
-"Don't you dare!"

The angry bzzzzing of his phone only gave him a sick sense of joy as he drifted off, the morning sun on his face whisking him off to sleep...
