My Little Rant

Neither 'special' nor 'different'

I'm not writing this to reach as many writers/readers as I can. I wouldn't mind though.

I'm still young enough to believe I can be unique with little effort... Yet old enough to understand there are over 7 billion people around with brains, some bigger or smoother than others. I get it when someone pops my bubble and tells me: "Whatever's in your mind, it's already been done or tried."

Already done.

Not only that idea you—yeah, you— had about Fluttershy using her animal-whisperer abilities to take over Equestria for herself .

But also, do you remember all the things you did as a kid? Yeah, like... I should've slept eight hours, think brain think! Like looking through the fridge's gap before the light went off when you closed it. Or the times you developed your dark instincts by stabbing holes on your poor eraser with a pencil, some monsters even trying to do a skewer of school supplies. What about filling a glass with water jussst before it would spill.

If you haven't done any of that, I guess that would only make me, and the rest who had, around 0.01% more unique each.

With all this said, my point is... I just dream of the time where I'll think about something not only original but good. And when I either google the "keywords" or search them with the internal engine here—e.g. Twilight Sombra Romance blah blah blah—I could make sure to add something truly new to this honorable, non-profit world of fanfic' writing.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't fret too much over retreading familiar territory, so long as you can give that journey your own unique spin; that "Holy crap, two cakes!" comic from a little while back comes to mind, if you know what I'm talking about. In any case, best of luck with finding that something and writing it!
