Deadpool and Wolverine: The Better Multiverse of Madness than actual one (MASSIVE SPOILER) · 3:30am July 30th
Alright, guys! I got back from watching Deadpool and Wolverine and I got to say... the movie is what Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should've been.
This is the ultimate Marvel movie of all time and Deadpool and Wolverine is definitely the No Way Home of Fox Marvel movies!
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman delivers an awesome chemistry as Deadpool and Wolverine with Reynolds' Deadpool as the wise guy to Jackman's Wolverine's straight man... it was a chef's kiss.
Emma Corrin's Cassandra Nova is a female villain done right as unlike other female villain that try to be "Girls strong" or trying to justified their awful behavior... Cassandra is one of more craziest MCU villain and you don't want her to be near you.
Alright, I'm getting to spoiler territory, so I suggest you watch the movie first.
This Wolverine is not our Wolverine but rather a Wolverine from an universe where TVA considered him as the "Worst" variant of Wolverine where not only his X-Men get murdered by humans while he's drinking but his rampage on killing those who killed his X-Men along with the innocent civilians lead to his X-Men's reputation tainted.
And yes, the movie does addressed Logan movie though not in a way you expecting as Deadpool uses Logan's corpse to fight off against TVA soldiers.
One of the most interesting about the film is Paradox explains that each universes have their own Anchor Beings as they're someone whose mere presence in whichever universes they belong to stabilizes it. When said being dies, their universe begins to steadily decay until one day, it's disappeared completely... so when our Wolverine died, Deadpool's universe is starting to decay as Wade trying to find a Wolverine to placed him in his universe since Wolverine is the anchor being.
Unlike Illuminati, I feel the movie handled the Others' role very well as we get to see appearance from Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Wesley Snipes' Blade and especially Channing FUCKING Tatum's Gambit! and they have important roles as they helps Deadpool and Wolverine out during their fight against Cassandra's soldiers. (While they did get eaten by Alioth from Loki, it's implied they brought back to life)
Chris Evans does appears but as Human Torch than Captain America and he got to be the funniest cameo... though, he does get killed off by Cassandra after Deadpool reveals Johnny talks shit about her. (Yes, there's a post-credit scene that reveals Johnny did talk shit about her)
Oh, let's not forget Laura/X-23 from Logan... she does have emotional scene with Wolverine and while she does get eaten by Alioth, she was brought back to life and it's implied she's going to live with this Wolverine.
The climax is got to be the most craziest as Deadpool and Wolverine fight off against Deadpool Corps!
And yes, Hugh Jackman finally wear the iconic Wolverine mask and it was worth it!
My only con is except Peter W (whom have more bigger role than Deadpool 2 and he deserves a big role), most of supporting casts from first 2 Deadpool movies including Colossus and Dopinder were more of background props and didn't really do much (Elektra, Blade and Gambit got more screentime than them) and once again, Vanessa is just satellite love interest who only there to fuel Deadpool's character arc.
Overall, it's awesome movie and this is going to be one of more memorable Marvel movie.
Glad you enjoyed it, buddy.
The concept alone reminded me a lot of that short film Hulk Vs. Wolverine, and how Deadpool made a really hysterical cameo in that, briefly even working alongside Wolverine against the Hulk.
The cameo by Hulk in the actual movie just reminded me all the more of that short film, and made me smile even more.
Great film. 👍
