    No Man's Sky 5.0

So, Hello Games, in their typical fashion, stealth-dropped the 5.0 update to No Man's Sky today, and apparently this is just part 1, with more coming later this summer.

All planets have dynamic wind now, with plants and grass being affected.
Water is now volumetric, with waves that intensify during storms.
    Asteroid density has increased substantially.
    Clouds look amazing now.

    My brain sometimes...

"Hey Miles, you want to try 100%ing a game you've historically been pretty mediocre at?"

Well, sure. Just like writing fanfiction, that takes up time and doesn't cost any money.

For some reason I'm tempted to try getting all achievements in the 2015 remaster of Resident Evil 1.

First one I went after was the five-hour achievement.

    I died eight minutes in.

Surprise blog! I'm on a podcast in ten minutes!

If you don't have anything to do on this Saturday evening, then perhaps come on over to Twitch where I'll be a guest on a podcast in about ten minutes discussing ponies and fanfiction until who knows when!

This is an up-and-coming show, so thanks if you can come on over!

Did anyone actually ask for this? · 9:12pm June 6th

So apparently Playtonic is remastering Yooka-Laylee.

Who asked for this? Who thought this was a good idea?

A few things, Playtonic:

1. This game is only seven years old.
2. A coat of paint and 4k resolution isn't going to fix this game's fundamental problems, the biggest one being level design. Worlds were detrimentally massive.

Long story short, I only got about a quarter of the way into this game before calling it quits; it was way too much like Banjo-Tooie (only played once) and not nearly enough like Banjo-Kazooie (replayed multiple times and will do so again if it ever comes to PC).

Until today, I’ve never even heard of this game. I’m just confused.

TL:DR A bunch of ex-Rare developers made a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie back in '17. It got a lot of pre-release buzz, and I do remember liking it well enough when I played it at the time, but reception's been historically mixed, especially in light of the fact that its Kickstarter made, like, all the money.

I second that. Never heard of this game until now.

I haven't played a good mascot platformer since Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. I'm hoping for a new Jax & Daxter or Sly Cooper! But for now, I'm bashing skulls in Elden Ring.

In a few years we'll be getting remasters of games that haven't released yet lol. Yooka-Laylee doesn't even look old yet.

I never played Yooka-Laylee, I played A Hat In Time.

Never heard of Yooka-Laylee, but that picture is giving me some Balan-Wonderland vibes (or was it wonder-world 🤔)

Basically the Series have 2 games and a comic. It's a spiritual Successor to Banjo-Kazooie.

I only know this game mostly for the cut cameo of JonTron.

That's been in my backlog for years. I want to get to it eventually.

I hate Yooka-Laylee.

I love Banjo-Kazooie.
