Since I Was Small, A New Hope

So for anyone reading Since I Was Small (let's be honest, why else would you be reading this), you'll have noticed I just uploaded a new chapter. It's pretty much the same one as the other, but with a few more intensive edits. I removed the scene where Deetsa talks to Morfo, removed a few jokes one of my editors snuck in and I forgot about, and tried (read "tried") to make Deetsa less of a nob.

My Little Blog Post · 5:16am Feb 22nd, 2012

Hello there everybody,

Well, today marks the date of my very first blog post. Like, ever. So if you find this rather lackluster, then I apologize and you can totally blame my lack of experience. Anyways, here goes.

For those of you reading this, you most likely read my very first fanfic, Sun, Moon and Stars (SMS). If you haven't, then I'm a little concerned as to how you arrived here, but I'm glad none the less. And if that's the case, well then, here's shameless plug #1 of today's blog. It begins here.

I guess what really spurred me into the actual writing of a fanfic was a result of all the work I've done being an editor. I've read since a very young age (according to my mother, as young as Kindergarten), so I've always been very familiar with the weave and flow of words. My very first project was Chapter Three of Deep Dark by Dragryphon. One of the very first fics I read was Solar Flare, also by Dragryphon, and when she posted in one of her chapters looking for a new editor, I quickly took the chance. The loser doesn't have a FiMFic page, so Ima post the EqD page now. Linky. I can promise you, it's worth the read. All about the War of the Night, the time before NMM got sent to the moon. I had a few name drops from it in my own fic. Anyways, moving on.

I'm getting foggy on the order, but after working on Deep Dark (still am, mind you), I began to acquire a taste for editing. I believe that my next project became Pony Age: Origins by OmegaPhoenix11. I was a massive fan of the game, X360 of course, and I was delighted when I saw that somepony had started up a crossover, here: here. Because I'm anal retentive like that, I'd always noticed a few kinks here and there in the writing, and one day I luckily caught Omega in a fic chat, and I persuaded him to hire me onto the team. It's been a very good time working with him and DJMidli, writer of Ponitics, and he's become a very valued friend. He's actually solely responsible for that pretty piece of purple prose in Part 1 of SMS, the bit about Nightmare Moon's prophecy. I'm extremely grateful to him for that, and I highly recommend PA: O as reading material, even if you're completely unfamiliar with the game. Seriously. Read it.

Most people involved in the MLP fanbase are at least familiar with the fanfic epic "The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle." Yup, I'm on the team for that, too. It was during that six-month (exaggerated) stint in which Gravekeeper hadn't posted. I sent him a very angry (not really) email wondering if he needed some help compiling his thoughts. Apparently he had written several versions of the chapter in question, but he had gotten it all figured out, I believe, when I had emailed him. ANYWAYS, he sent me the chapter and I've been a pre-reader ever since. Seriously, if you haven't started it yet, it's one of the most worthwhile fics in the fanbase. Absolutely hysterical. Your journey starts here.

I'm almost done, I swear. I saved these two for last for the sole reason that they're by the same fantastic author, WandererD. Yes, they would be The Empty Room and The Sweetie Chronicles: Fragments. Admittedly, I haven't been on either of these teams terribly long, but I've enjoyed every second that I have spent on them. My fellow teammates are always around for a good talking-with, I'm actually speaking with two of them as I write this, and we've even delved into a side-project together, but I'll get to that next paragraph. To this day, The Empty Room is one of the most fantastic pieces of literature I've read on this fanbase, and it's even high up there with favorite work of all time (Dan Brown is quite elusive and I can't help but love him). And although The Sweetie Chronicles is barely off the ground, having recently finished the third chapter, I was quickly enthralled as I was doing my personal edits, and I have the utmost faith that TSC will be yet another stellar piece by Mr. WandererD, and of course the help of his team.

Now onto that side project I mentioned. This actually has extremely little to do with My Little Pony (thunder crash and dramatic music), but it's still awesome. The crazy crazies within WandererD's team somehow came up with the idea to make a Pokemon fanfic....sorta. The basic premise is that characters based on various members of the team (mine is Blade) managed to get turned into various Pokemon thanks to a twisted experiment, and now they have to figure out if there's a cure, and how to obtain it. I promise you, it's much more satisfying than I just explained. Chapter 4 is up on WandererD's DeviantArt page, and Chapter 5 is currently in the works. I'll be the first to admit that I don't do a terribly large amount of work on this. I finally got caught up in my edits and work so I'll be around more, but the entire fic is co-written by WandererD and Magical Trevor Magical Trevor. If you're a Pokemon fan, this is definitely a story to read. WandererD is involved, so you know it's fantastic.

Right, well, this got excessively long. Don't worry, none of the future blog posts, should there be any, will be this long. Mostly just updates of the stories listed above, in case you want to read them. I can personally vouch for how good and worthwhile each and every one of these are, and if you're looking for extra reading material, I humbly suggest all of these.

If you actually managed to get this far, I'm very impressed! If I had cookies, I would definitely give them to you.

Thanks for reading, and have a good one!
