In The Storm Kingdom Issue #1, The Crystal of Light, brainwash Spike, pages 13-16. Spike expresses his perspective and point of view. It takes after Spike and the mane five got captured by Tempest as he was crying about Twilight. And it's taken place within Kingdom Fall before he grow up as a teen dragon
As Tempest's magical chains gripped him and held him upside down, he saw the crystal begin to pierce his forehead, causing him to scream in agony before it settled. After the magic chain dissipates, Spike looks at the crystal on his forehead, touching it lightly. As Spike thinks about Twilight as his mother, he feels the crystal's power of light begin to brainwash him, and he accepts his fate, knowing that once the process is complete, he will become the Storm King's bodyguard and security commander. After the brainwashing, Tempest took Spike to the barrack to get him dressed into his bodysuit and put on his facemask. Then, Tempest helps Spike sit down on the still so she can keep him company.
