Alright, another slice-of-life episode complete! It's been a while since we had an episode about Stormy and TPSS was a lot more fun to write than I expected!
Well I don't know if I've told a lot of you, but Stormy is probably still my favorite of the "Kid Six". All of them have great things about them, but Stormy stands out to me most. He fits the rebellious kid trope quite well, but what I really love about writing him is balancing out his cocky, mischievous side with some more light-hearted or sweet moments like his feelings for Somnambula or how he is loyal to his friends, enough to a point where he'll stand up for someone he used to fear like Cozy Glow. There was no shortage of depicting both in this story.
I can't remember exactly when I came up with this episode. I know I had stories like Dream of Alicornication, Tirek vs Scorpan or Oh, Mother, Where Art Thou? first since I was thinking of the bigger epic episodes that deal with a major villain, but the idea of Stormy doing something very naughty like turning himself into an adult to go on a ride at a fair came up eventually and then I thought of funny stuff like that Back to the Future reference since it has to do with age and Discord might think he's in the future if he saw Stormy. That part was put in mostly because I chose for Adult Stormy's voice to sound like Marty McFly, and I couldn't resist making that reference.
Another thing I was really happy to do this time was give Thunderhead some more character. I felt bad that he only got a quick cameo at the end of Calming of the Storm and not many lines in Oh, Mother, Where Art Thou? so I had to correct that. His singing was largely inspired by my friend Gabe Brown (BlackGryph0n) who I chose to be his voice. The composition for that song went along quite smoothly too. It's probably the most finalized tune I've made so far. I really need to get working on making a more final version of You'll Never Be Alone someday. I hope Thunder's message and the moral of this story can resonate with some. It's something I think we can all relate to as kids wanting to have our lives easier if we were adults, but then we become adults and want to be kids again.
But let's talk about one final thing: the ending. I was debating whether or not that should be in the final chapter, but I wanted to do something at the end of the episode before "My Big Fat Pink Wedding" that sets up for it. We haven't seen General Scutellum since the first episode and he is ready as ever to serve is queen. Chrysalis made her first appearance in this too, though technically she was in "They Can't Stay Encased in Stone Forever". It's going to be quite a hectic episode for sure. Somepony who you've all been dying to see in this series will finally make their grand debut and you might even seen an OC that I've shown a design for way back in 2019 too! Perhaps even the silhouetted character here might finally appear? Stay tuned!
Who's that pokemon lol anyway I can't wait to see what's going to happen on your next story and I'll probably going to have some Deja Vu of season 2 finale since it's about wedding and usually that's when she strikes
