ChatGPT is not the droid you are looking for. It has no comprehension, just building blocks, rules and examples to copy. Story telling is an adventure of the mind. You become the story, you become the characters, you live what they live and write it down.
My ZeFrank scribble of Pinkie Pie bursting into tears works as an allegory of the best you can hope from a random generator of stilted mindless text. I started with an on-model, tight, clear line drawing. With ZeFrank's toy, it's garbage in, garbage out, the drawing has to be good. Next I had to control the tool to follow my model and to add in splashes of colour. It took many tries. Because the ZeFrank tool does not understand what the lines I drew represents, much what it gives me is barely resembles Pinkie Pie. After I'd tweaked the ZeFrank tool as much as I could and saved the result, I opened the output in an art program and drew on top of it to do what the ZeFrank Scribbler couldn't: draw Pinkie Pie.
Artificial intelligence is not intelligent, in the same way that a cloud is not intelligent when it precipitates into a snowflake. It is not artificial either in the way that a pebble rolling down a hill is not artificial even though it had been pushed to start rolling. What is artificial and intelligent is creative writing. Here on FiMFiction, human minds share flights of fancy that no not exist in nature. Fantasy Horse Punk stories do not grow on trees nor do intelligent, coherent and true to form tales extrude from a grammar and form-letter guide. ChatGPT can't even build good snowflakes.
It is good and proper that machine generated texts be forbidden on FiMFiction.
