Announcing: Rising Flames · 3:00pm May 20th, 2023
It is my honor and privilege to announce that I’m penning the sequel to applezombi’s incredible adventure story Rekindled Embers with their blessing! This will be both my largest work for the fandom to date, a full-length novel, and likely my last, since G5 fell off for me. I’ll still be here reading, though!
The novel, Rising Flames, is fully outlined, and is probably going to wind up as my horseword magnum opus. While I have multiple complete chapter drafts already written, it will likely be a month or two before the first chapter goes live. Firstly, the cover art I commissioned isn’t ready yet. And second, I want to give folks the time to settle into the rebooted roleplay in the Rekindled Embers Discord server, linked on the fic, which has yet to begin. I’ll be joining up there this time around, too! The roleplay will take place in between the two stories on the timeline, one year after Rekindled Embers.
However, what I can share of Rising Flames is the summary, which should be enough to tantalize you with some dangling hooks of possibility. Enjoy:
Thanks to the efforts of Emberglow, her fellow Elements, and all who stood against tyranny, the twisted heart of the Holy Equestrian Diarchy was exposed and expunged. Some time has passed since then, and all the creatures of the land have settled into a new normal. While there are those who still cling to their old fear and hatred, the seeds of change have been planted in the hearts of many who once blindly followed a bigoted faith. Others have already embraced peaceful coexistence, following Emberglow’s example.
But sudden, unfathomable arrivals trigger a seismic shift, upending what everypony thought they knew and threatening to undo everything Emberglow and company achieved. Can they uncover the real truth once again and protect Equestria? Or will renewed violence and conquest sweep across the entire world under the purview of those who would claim absolute power?
Oh heck! Definitely looking forward to this one... and I'll have to get around to actually finishing Rekindled Embers in the meantime.
Curious. I literally got asked to review Rekindled Embers just yesterday. I won't be able to get to it until next year though.
Surely you can have the sequel done by, say, September 2024?
Actually, it wouldn't matter, because by the time I review Rekindled Embers my blog schedule will probably be full into 2027.
