Dungeons and Dragons with my father · 1:11am Apr 17th, 2023
Oh yeah, today, I taught my dad how to play Dungeons and Dragons!
For context, we both watched the new Dungeons and Dragons movie, him watching it before me. I had told my dad before that I play D&D sometimes with my friends, and after watching the movie (and Vox Machina, surprisingly), he asked if I could teach him how to play. So I agreed, with it being this day.
It wasn't him and I, as my brother and his GF joined. My brother, his GF, and my dad's characters.
A Dragonborn Wizard (Necromancy)
A Gnome Ranger
A Minotaur Artificer
For each, we have an evil wizard who wants to flex his power, a gnome who hates elves and is the most innocent of them all, and a Minotaur who's haunted by the spirits of those who died, and refuge is Drinking.
The world is Xineohp, more specifically, a place called Burrowton. An elderly halfling woman is missing her grandson, and Ella was the first to step in, with the other two joining, only for some reward. Turns out, her grandson was kidnapped last night, and after finding some clawed footprints, entered a first just out of town. Though they got lost, they found and used a hedgehog to find out that the kidnappers were goblins.
They used the hedgehog as a bit of a distraction for two goblin guards, quickly taking out the pair, and enter the cave they were guarding, seeing some ceremony as they mad the kidnapped kid, making him their king. A quick fire accident was made, quickly taking care of half of the goblins, and they easily took down the rest, saving that kid, but not before intimidating him, with a hedgehog feasting on the corpses of the goblins.
They received their award, 2 gold pieces each, and were told to head north to become a true adventuring team. And their group named: The Damned Squad.
And I was happy to say my dad, and the rest, enjoyed their first session.
Saw that movie myself, it was pretty good. I'm glad your family enjoyed their session.
