Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Hello, I decided that I would start reviewing albums here on my blogs since I'm bored, and all I really do is work on stories most of the time, or go on writers block because I'm either tired or just lazy as fuck lol. So to give me more motivation to finish stories and work on stuff I will review albums I really like from bands/artists/singers that I like, and hopefully to those who read these check them out if you like the album. So to kick of numero one of this album review series (I don't know exactly when I will write 2 or 3 or so on. It might be just on random but hopefully I can make some sort of schedule to keep consistent.)

And I will begin with the album, Ants From Up There by Black Country, New Road.

It is a fairly new album that came out last year, and it has post-rock elements and that automatically will make me love an album even more. The album feels like a triumphant for something, to the melodic and soft vibe to it, but with many metaphors in the lyrics such as the multiple times the plane Concorde is referenced. Which I believe in my interpretation fits in the story that I think, well my interpretation of what the album is about. Is that it is about either a long distance relationship, or someone moving away such as the lyrics like -

Concorde, I miss you
Don't text me 'till winter
I can hardly afford
A second summer of splinters.

On my first listen it affected me in a very melancholy well, the singers voice fits the mood of every song and the sometimes quiet and at times small explosions of instruments like In the song Chaos Space Marine. And other times in songs like Bread Song where it makes me just want to lay down on the bed and listen to the song as I drift of into sleep. It's a perfect album for some listening and other times could be just a peaceful little listen. Its one of my all time favorite albums of all time period, because it is a Post-Rock album which is the most important genre of music to me, its not for everyone since most the songs can be over 20 minutes long, sometimes longer.

But I actually believe this is a really good album for people coming into Post-Rock because its not that long and the songs are not that long (Except for the last half of the album) So if you're curious into listening to this album, its a great starter for beginner listeners to get into the genre of Post-Rock.

So this was pretty short, I plan on making them longer since I'm not the best like, in explaining stuff but hey, hope you enjoyed this small little thing. And hope you look forward to the next review!

My rating of the album - 9/10

Favorite Track: Chaos Space Marine

Least Favorite Track: Snow Globes (still very good, listened to it once to fall asleep lol)
