    Xlibris

Hey, you guys ever hear of Xlibris? I've got an offer from them to publish my book, but I'm getting some shady vibes from some of the reviews I've read about them. Any thoughts?

    Amazon's changing it's print costs.

So, as of June 20th, Amazon will be changing its print costs. Specifically, everything is going to be a bit more expensive. If you were on the fence for buying a physical copy of my books, now's the time to change your mind, seeing as how the price is going to increase in a couple of months. Thought I'd give you all the heads up.

    What I Am: Aftermath chapter.

Hey, guys, I'm writing a conclusion chapter for What I Am. Nothing too substantial, given that a sequel and spin off already exist, but I thought I'd put it down as both a way to let those that don't exactly follow me (or, at the very least, don't follow my blog) know that the second book is out, and also know that A Darkened Sky is about to get a whole lot of chapters.

    Fool's Gambit.

Man, did you ever go back and just... cringe at what you did before? That happened to me with Fool's Gambit. The story has plenty of potential, that's not the problem. My problem is with how it's written. The prose is off, there are numerous errors, and I feel like the whole thing is rushed. Like, that first part could have easily been 4-5 chapters longer, and it would have been better for

    Live on Google Play!

Hey, guys, just wanted you to know that What I've Become and Nightmare of the Past is now live on Google Play! So, if you didn't have a kindle-compatible device before, you can buy both books for 3.99 each right now on Google Play! I'll be working to get them into more outlets during the next couple of days, so keep an eye out for them!

Still looking for prereaders! · 4:15pm Mar 14th, 2023

In case you missed my previous blog post, I'm still looking for prereaders for my finished second book. I've already completed the first round of edits, and was hoping to get a few outside eyes looking at this thing before I packaged this thing up for print. Only two people have expressed a desire to help me so far, and those seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth, so I'm starting to wonder if my second book is really that bad. Come on, guys! No feedback makes a sad Knight Breeze!

It's okay if things aren't going too good for you, and you just don't have time. I understand, but I still could use an outside eye to help me spot the mistakes. I'm too close to this thing, after all, and my ego's invested. I need someone to hit me over the head with the hammer of criticality, so any help would be appreciated. Also, think of it this way: The sooner this is finished, the sooner I publish other chapters for my stuff here!

PM me if you'd like to help. Please and thank you!

What's the timeframe? When would you need it by?

I wish I could help, but I don't have a lot of free time. Not do I have home internet at the moment, and my phone has only 5 GB of net a month. I hope you find a proofreader soon.

I have plenty of spare time on my hands, and fondly remember "What I Am" stories. If you still need a pre-reader, I can do it.

5718114 There's no real timeframe, but putting it through the patent office takes a while, and I'd like to get that taken care of as quickly as possible so I can format it for publication. I'd like it to be done in the next few weeks if possible, but I'd understand it if you couldn't get through it in that time. The new manuscript's pretty chunky, 190000+ words, and all that.

5718122 Don't even worry about it, my friend. I'm only asking for help, and I completely understand it if you can't do it.

5718148 Just to be clear, you do know that I'm talking about the published versions of this story, correct? It's still What I've Become and its sequels, but it's the version of that story with the ponies removed for copyright reasons, so I can actually sell it in book stores. If you're okay with that, I'd love to have you on board.

Not a problem. I'm a really fast reader and can finish most books in a day or less. With proof-reading, maybe two days.

You know...if you're looking for help with writing stuff beyond pony, you might want to pay a visit to Starscribe's writing Discord. He's also been branching out to non-pony works, so there's a lot of discussion and experience there, around the subject.

You do know you can keep the equine side of the story. Hasbro doesn't own everything equine, just MLP ponies, and there is a lot of different types of equines. Most people think miniature horses are ponies, but they are not. The American miniature horse is similar to MLP ponies, and are mostly misinterpreted for ponies normally. Falabella miniature horses are a great example. They are normally around 28 to 34 inches tall, and look like a fussy MLP pony. I say look into miniature horses and use them as a reference if you decide to keep the equine reference in the future.

5718210 I am aware, but the whole point of my pony stories from the start was as practice to eventually become good enough to write something all my own. It's why I don't lean too hard into mlp (no elements of harmony, no discord, no specific episodes, etc.) And generally worked with my own stories with mlp characters and the setting as a backdrop, rather than my stories being true mlp stories. So, getting away from the pony aspect made the most sense to me, especially as it allowed me to stretch my creative muscles and come up with an alien race and culture completely my own.

5718211
I understand, but what I meant was introducing an equine based species in one of your stories. So many avoid using equine species because of Hasbro's bull crap. Even in star trek and star wars haven't used equines. I just think it would be a good way to help bring more people to your stories, both from MLP fans and other who are looking for more verity in such space stories.

5718214 Hey, I might still use an equine species later down the road. This is just the beginning, after all, and it's supposed to open up into a larger galaxy as the story progresses.

5718217
When you do have them find out of MLP and win a lawsuit against Hasbro when the tried to release an update to MLP using their image.

Have you heard about published versions of fanfics being sold at Everfree Northwest?

5718389 I have not. I'll have to take a look at that.

Somehow I missed your request for proofreaders. I can do proofreading, though my time is somewhat limited so I may not be fast at it. Also I lack an e-book reader and most of my reading time is on my phone, so I would unfortunately need some sort of format my phone can use like a PDF.

5718503 It's actually on a google doc right now, and if your phone's anything like mine, it'll struggle with the size of the doc. Don't worry, though, I've got enough prereaders at this point, so I think I'm good for now.

5718549
That's good! I'm glad you have enough help. I'm still available if that changes. I can probably do my own conversion from a google doc to something I can read on break at work.
