If I had a Nickle for every time I Have a major medical emergency that ended surgery in the month of February, I'd have two Nickels, which isn't much, but let's agree that it is weird that has happened twice. · 3:05am Feb 14th, 2023

Like title say everyone it has happened again. Only this time, the implications were much worse.

Instead of a broken leg, I would up with severe dehydration which caused me to start going into kidney failure. My umbilical hernia went from a fluid filled sack to actually having part intestines in it.

This caused my system get backed up, which led to me getting sick, throwing up more than once a day for multiple days in a row.

I went to the emergency room last Friday and finally learning what the problem was.

They had to stabilize over Friday night and conduction the surgery Saturday morning.

So yeah, I almost died.

After spending Sunday recovering I was discharged and am back home type this out.

I am very grateful that I didn't have to go out of town again, and for the doctor's ability, experience, and the fact that he able to quickly identify the problem.

And although the doc himself has downplayed his part in the , he did a damn good job.

There is also a humorous side note to this situation. Apparently, the doc asked one of the nurses what she was giving for pain, and she said that she wasn't giving my anything. Which works out because I wasn't having any pain. 🤣

So I left at least a couple of dropped jaws in my wake.

Honestly, I don't know what to say to you all, because it takes a lot of pain before it will actually register on my end. I just don't fell a lot of pain.

In closing, Fimfiction's blog feature has quickly become a medical journal for yours truly.

What are you going to do?

Shit dude, glad you made out of there okay.
I went into the hospital back in the beginning of December for throwing up constantly and subsequent dehydration as well, but my life sure wasn't on the line (I blame stress but since the doctors can't apparently measure that they blamed my diabetes and stomach paralysis) and then nearly went back in back in January.
Not trying to make this a contest but just to let you know that I know at least some of what you just went through.

Freaking hell Ink, to think that the two of us went through basically the same thing within such a short period from each other is not the kind of coincidence I want to have to process.

That timing is just damned eerie.

Here is the thing, I went through a protracted period of stress years ago that caused me to throw up like once a day for a few days running. So I get that.

I'm glad you didn't have to dodge a metaphorical bullet like I did. And that you're diabetic, it could very easily have been way worse than it wound up being. You were extremely luckey on that my dude.

I'm pretty sure stress was my major factor as well. Ever since one of my grandmothers passed right before Christmas 2019, my own stress levels have been elevated. Like, to the point my doctor advised me to be on Prilosec because I had been having vomiting episodes (like, once or twice every three months) since my birthday in 2021. My last grandmother passed right before Thanksgiving this past year, meaning we've lost SIX family members in THREE years. I basically broke down the day of (Black Friday), started vomiting the day after, and kept vomiting on and off until that Tuesday night I just wouldn't stop. Wasn't even dry-heaving anymore, it just kept pushing until bile finally came up. That's when I went into the hospital and they admitted me when it looked like I was developing keto acidosis in my kidneys from the dehydration.

I think there was some phycological link to my parents as well because when I moved back in with them in January I went into the ER again for vomiting again. Didn't get admitted, thankfully, as I'd been drinking nothing but water to avoid the dehydration again, but it still resulted in a lot of missed work and doctor's visits. This thought is also reinforced by how I'd lose my appetite whenever I visited (or even vomited like on this past Christmas day. That was fun)

Seeing a therapist now and no relapses and hoping to keep it that way.

Holy crap dude, we've both been drug through some form of hell over the last few years.

Let's see if we can drag ourselves out of it. I think that's a worth while idea.

Hey, I know this blog post is dated, but is everything alright?

It's fine, mostly.

I wound up with a another billing situation that needs to resolved though. I swear they are going to have to start paying me to deal with this crap. :facehoof:
