A 2023 Check In · 4:55pm Feb 5th, 2023
I originally planned to do a blog post when I published Into the Depths Part 3, but I thought better of it and wanted to have some more chapters published before I did that.
I don't want to get too deep into the weeds, but the sickness and eventual loss of my father towards the end of 2019 affected me much harder than I thought it would. He was the one that sparked my love of reading. He was always reading old-school westerns by Louis L'amour, and he introduced me to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
A big part of my love of writing was my desire to share stories with others. When he passed, every time I tried to write, I didn't feel like it. There was no joy, and it didn't feel right.
Following the usual tradition of resolutions for the new year, I decided I would get back to writing. I wanted to read some of my favorite stories and saw a message in my inbox. HistoricRiffnote sent me a message asking if I would return to my PinkieShy series.
I replied that I wished to return and decided to pick up the series. It took a few days, but I managed to find fun in writing the stories. Though not the pure ship it should have been, there's something about adventures that I can't help but love.
Now that I have a consistent rhythm, I will post a new chapter each Sunday. Today's was published earlier than I planned, but that's because I wanted to get this blog posted as well.
I'm going to alternate between AppleShy and PinkieShy. This week is PinkieShy, and I'll post the next chapter of AppleShy, tentatively titled, The Long Road Home. As much as I want to say that this will be the final arc for AppleShy, I know that's probably not true. I remember way back when that "Him" was supposed to be a simple two-part story called "The Colt from Cloudsdale," where Fluttershy would deal with her past. Things didn't pan out that way.
Still, I hope you are enjoying a happy Sunday or whatever day you happen to read this, and I look forward to sharing more stories in the future. That's right, I'm looking at you Romance and the Apple Family.
Pat, as someone who is also slowly getting back into the fandom and also writing (yes, MoaMN is still going... ish, plus another one on the works), I am glad you're picking up the pace. I can't read the new chapter until tonight, but I'm still excited that the story is going forward.
I shall give you a salute for being back to the saddle and remembering your stories. (I 've said it before but it's even better knowing your current status)

There are potential for those rare Mane 6 ships to be epic and I see that in those back-to-life stories. I don't read fast, but I would get there soonTM and enjoy those moments.
Also, just noticed that you started early but only has 4 stories so far with three of them being incomplete and luring people with those epic tales. Hope that you can focus on these bundles of joy! (and as someone else said before, "and this one's a vintage! Allon-sy!")

Thanks. I'm looking forward to finally seeing "Complete" on one of my stories that aren't a one-shot. I wasn't aware of your story, and the description certainly caught my attention. I went through the comments and saw the Anchorman clip of "That escalated quickly," so I know I'll be in for quite a ride.
There are also a few story ideas that I'm tossing around, but I want to complete these two first.
Thanks again, and I look forward to more in the future.

Thanks for the salute, and it's good to be back. I have a rhythm and system that allows me to write daily. There are no days off. I am incredibly lazy, so if I slack even a little, it's much harder to start again.
I enjoy adventures, and there's something about having these friends pull together to save the day. With a planned chapter every Sunday, I'll be able to finish these stories and start on new ones.
Thanks again, and here's a salute in return.
