I'm super excited for this. Writing has been difficult for me for the past year or two, because a) new baby, and b) the pandemic knocked me out of practice for some of my more passionate projects.

"And You Said Yes" has been the exception. The idea struck me at around the same time as I heard about the contest, and I couldn't get it out of my head until I brought it to life. The more I wrote it, the more I connected with it, and it turned into both a reflection on some of the happiest and hardest parts of my life as well as what I hope for my own future.

I cried so much writing and editing it, especially the ending. I am a huge, HUGE believer in the importance and beauty of everyday people (which is why I write so many background characters), and I've found that slice of life stories and moments within stories are the most resonant, even more than the magical adventures or heroic victories.

And much to my delight, it's helped me find the inspiration I've needed to continue another very important story to me:
