Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

    One final thing...

I have been advised by no less an authority than CHS acting Vice-Principal Ms. Cheerilee to use the upcoming Midnight Rising chapter as strictly a recap to relaunch the story, and not get into Lemon Zest until the following chapter, when I can devote a full entry to it without any split in focus. No, really. She did. You’ll see what I mean when the chapter launches, but basically, I’m

I have reached a decision on Midnight Rising...

Thanks in part to one final comment that came to me over PM last night. It wasn't a mean comment. In fact, it was nothing but a simple, politely asked question from a reader I hadn't heard from before: do you have to read the griffon chapters to understand what comes after?

New Eros chapter in the books; Nightmare Night on deck · 7:41pm Jan 3rd, 2023

Though after the intense writing effort I put into the latest entry of Eros—I put a ton of work in on it, so if you read it, please comment, folks! —I’ll probably wait a day or two before starting the new chapter of Nightmare Night to try to recharge mentally.

I’m not spoiling anything to say that it will be the duel of Ascended Sunset vs Corrupted Twilight in the first of not two but three major magical battles to end the story. This will be the last chapter (or possibly second-to-last if it gets too big for a single chapter) I can write in the story for now, since the remainder will require (or at least greatly prefer) the completion of Midnight Rising. As to why, let’s just say for now that Midnight’s sojourn to the Griffon Kingdom isn’t just for the sake of sexual insanity.

It sure helps me write it, though! :rainbowwild: All joking aside, several things currently happening in Midnight Rising will factor into the ultimate climax of Nightmare Night, and don’t think for a second that Sunset’s efforts here will be for naught. This may not be the true boss battle, but it’ll be an excellent undercard, and I wouldn’t do this without giving Sunny a chance to truly shine.

As for a release schedule, we’ll aim for two weeks out, though as always, that may slip depending on how difficult I find the going. And for those of you hoping for more sexual insanity in Nightmare Night itself, don’t worry—it’ll happen in a surprising manner when the time comes.

After this, I’ll return to Midnight Rising for a couple chapters, then at least one new chapter of Continuation and Chronicles by spring. But that will remain on the back burner for a bit given I just finished a story arc, and because I really need to get my other unfinished stories on track towards completion.
