It's happened! (Dad's Drunk) · 9:02pm Dec 31st, 2022
Ugh!! I never thought this would be my last blog entry of 2022, not to mention my 400th...
My old man is drinking again (After months, of swearing off of it)
He's been drinking all his life, and causing loads of stress and chaos.
-Ruins holidays
-Anniversary
-Special occasions.
...He just drinks so much and then he turns into this creep looking for a fight!
Last June, he got gout in his foot, as a result of excessive drinking over his years, and that's what made him swear it off (FINALLY) if he kept on drinking, the gout would worsen, and it would probably lead to him losing his whole foot.
Now he's back on the wine bottles again, (Being rude, smelly, inconsiderate, hurtful, threatening, demanding)
He ruined his own wedding anniversary on the 29th (As usual) and he's already ruining New Years for Mama and Me. (He threatened her this morning for her to go get him Vodka, or HE'LL go out and get it... WHILE DRUNK!!!)
...I am EXTREMELY and JUSTIFIABLY disappointed in my father. He was doing so well, not drinking... But I guess it goes to show, there are some things you just can't hope for, change, or are too good to be true (Like a promise to lay off the sauce)
If he keeps drinking, his gout will rise again, and even still he'll cause trouble for me, my mom, and everyone else.
...And he never... ever learns.
I am so upset right now, it's hard to think, but there's literally not much to be done. We've DONE EVERYTHING, and nothing works.
so much for "Happy New Year"
Edit: He's sobered up now, and he says he's gonna try and cut down again, but you know ADDICTION-- I don't see how it can last.
Edit 2: It didn't last... he's drinking, sulking and being more miserable than ever.
-That was my mistake...
and then he turns and says
I don't make mistakes.
...He is HOPELESS!!
I am sorry to hear that. That is wrong of your dad.
Shit, that sucks. You have my sympathies, man.

Oh, and we just finished New Year's dinner... and he claims he's gonna stop again.
Wonder how long this will last.

Knowing what most addicts are like, prolly not long.

A good lesson MLP neglect to teach.
ADDICTION: "It's far easier to PREVENT than CURE."
Edit: Wow, people are still thumbing me down when I say things that are accurate. (Only proving me further correct: People, and myself, care only for Personal Preference/Spite.)
Sorry to hear bud

Although I wouldn't agree with how you word it, I do agree that it would've been a good idea for MLP to touch on. But Hasbro executives would probably say it's a little too adult for the show rating.
