To be facetious, polygamy probably is the norm in MLP, given it's literally the nature of horses but then, so is a mare going out of her way to get mounted by every stallion she can find once pregnant so none of them will know it's not his and won't try to kill the foal once it comes out, though it's not like they'd ever be able to actually mention that in the show and the latter portion'a that certainly isn't probably something these ponies'd do, at least.
