A dying little girl asks for memories of all the places she'll never go.

Her name is Delaney Krings, and she may not live to see the new year.

Brain cancer.

Her family is trying to keep her happy for as long as they can. Greeting cards and postcards make her happy. Contact. A reminder that the world exists, and parts of it aren't quite so cruel.

It's not so much to ask for.

Knew a girl like that in my own childhood. Mom babysat her a few years, then she got brain cancer. Man: what a tearjerker! Such a bright kid too. Parents pushed the doctors a bit harder than they might have, she should have gone to palliative care sooner, but can hardly blame them eh? I’ve got problems sure but my life ain’t that bad either.

Oh Gods. This is going to be another Craig Shergold, isn't it?
(With the exception that Craig had successful surgery and lived until 2020 - Delaney's family probably won't even have that comfort.)

I hate to be the wet blanket here, but once this sort of thing has started, it gets out of control fast, and never stops. The Shergold family ended up with a post code set up specifically for their house, and eventually had to move to get away from the volume of mail. Craig was reported to be still recieving cards (at the old address) in 2013, and the campaign started in 1988 (with a chain email), and that in the days when the internet wasn't quite so big...

It's being done with the best of intentions (and for what it is worth, I hope it does make Delaney happy), but I don't think it will end well for the family as a whole.

I think I know how Estee's Applejack feels...
