New story rec: All Teeth by Regidar · 3:12am Nov 29th, 2022

All Teeth by Regidar is a free-verse, funky-format poem-story inspired by a cover, full of angst and reverb, by one of those suicidal goth bands that have been breeding like flies in America for decades now. I like Regidar's story better than its source material, as story and as poetry.

1700 words. Give it a try; you'll know in a few lines if it's your kind of thing. It's not really my thing. I'm not its audience. But I appreciate the writing, and the experimental style. I guess I'm getting soft. Do click thru the link at the end if you read that far. I said 1700 words.

Suicidal goth band style? That sounds GREAT! Is there pony music? I really need to get back to browsing through the last few years of pony music. :rainbowlaugh:

 just wait until you have to listen to MY suicidal gothgaze de-industrial neopunk band!

Even if it wasn't your thing, I'm glad you were moved by it enough to blog about it. that means a lot to me! I get worried that I project my own emotions onto the horsies a bit too much, but if any horse shares my mind, it's probably Trixie. I'd love to hear what some of your favorite lines were that you alluded to in the comment you left on the story! my ego hungers

Hmm.

everything in place. The shelves lined with success.

silver iodide conjuring these images into temporary permanence

Wrench the book open,

Trixie.
You don’t even need to start at the start.

It will all hurt your heart.

Taxidermied time
Glowing and glistening
In its otherworldly shine

You can almost hear it again.

yet, doesn’t it feel...

(like these scales were tipped long before you?)

As if the photographs

(that you hate)

Which live in the book

(that you hate)

Have somehow,
in their timelessness,
always existed.

as if Trixie Lulamoon

(who you hate)

was an inevitability.

pick another page.

Flipping through the pages now
It is only reasonable
To feel the anger
And dismay

That comes with

looking in

through a window in time

back to a place you are never allowed to return.

what is it but

just cold sunlight

Dream of the lie.

You will be missed when you die.

(and she might save my life.)

No deus ex

no machina.

when a single soldier falls

the army goes on.
