Yes, the chapter is still coming, and I've included a preview below. Unfortunately, I've messed up my ankle again. Seriously, one sprain back in my high school days, and my body never forgave me. This is the third time this ankle has buggered up.
The sad thing about school days, Sunset believed, was that they didn’t play well with superhero work. The amount of strain that a fight put on her body often left her drained and unwilling to wake up in the morning, which made her consider skipping classes more than once. Not that her temporary roommate would apparently understand as, despite participating in the fight with Yapool yesterday, the infuriatingly preppy pony princess had kicked her out of bed at the crack of dawn, rushed through her morning routine, and out the door.
“Ugh, how are you so energized this early in the morning?” Sunset groaned from her seat next to the bus window.
“Oh, Sunset. It’s never too early to start learning,” Twilight beamed.
“While the enthusiasm is admirable, Twilight, learning should never come at the cost of your sleep schedule,” Taro mumbled from within Sunset’s bag.
“Blasphemy,” Twilight gasped.
“Twilight, one of the leading causes of death in Japan is literally working to the point of suicide. Trust me, it is possible to work yourself to an early grave,” Taro countered.
Twilight cringed at the thought, but then an image of her beloved assistant in such a state, “Maybe I should start caring for myself instead of having Spike do it.”
“Hang on, I thought you loved the place,” Sunset wondered.
“Loving a place, regardless of how long you live there, does not shield it from criticism, Sunset. Yes, I adored my time in Japan, but I’ll admit there are areas where they could improve,” Taro admitted.
“Like what?” Twilight asked, putting aside her thought.
“Those obscenely long hours I mentioned? They’re seen as a sign of dedication as opposed to poor time management, which doesn’t even get into the rampant abuse by the management. It has gotten so bad, in fact, that some Japanese don’t bother having families, there’s just not enough time in the day for both work and family,” Taro explained.
Twilight cringed again. Taro hadn’t intended it, but that felt like another barb against her, once more bringing images of long nights of study while Spike, unnoticed and unthanked, busied himself with cleaning up after her. Before her mind could further drag her down, a buzzing sound caught her and Sunset’s attention.
“That my phone?” Sunset asked.
“No, it’s your book,” Taro replied surprised.
Sunset looked at her bag, then at Twilight before racing to retrieve her magic journal from her bag. As Taro had said, the book was vibrating with a glow that demanded notice.
“What’s going on? Does Princess Celestia need me back in Equestria?” Twilight asked.
“I don’t know. I never expected anyone to reach out on this thing with you here,” Sunset replied as she opened the journal.
With no small amount of trepidation, she began flipping through the pages, searching for the most recent entry. Sunset hesitated for a moment as she reached the final page before turning it over. Whatever she was expecting to find written on that sheet of paper, was most certainly not what was scrawled there now.
“WHAT THE F-!?”
