Progress Report VII: Continuation! · 4:27am Nov 21st, 2022
Much to my pleasant surprise, I felt a flash of inspiration this weekend and managed to write out the first working draft of the next chapter in Chromatic Aberration! This chapter has been through quite a number of rough drafts, but none have made it past the rough drafting phase until now. It still needs a bit of work, and after I do that work, it'll have to be sent off for proofreading and whatnot. That said, this is the furthest I've made it with anything I've written since my hiatus began.
Despite being on hiatus, I've been pretty productive! Not counting anything I've tried to write for Chromatic Aberration, I've got something like 30k words of stuff split among 13 different documents I need to sift through. Most of this will probably never be uploaded, even though all of it is fic material. A lot of it is personal stuff I did for myself. As such, I don't know if I want to go through the process of editing, proofreading, etc. That's not to hold it over your head or anything, but mostly just to say that I've been staying busy while I've been on break.
When it comes to personal writings, there is a huge gulf in the mental overhead it takes me to write things for myself vs things I'd like to show off to others. I can hammer out thousands of words for myself, but are they good words? Are they words I feel comfortable making available for consumption? Almost definitely not. Am I overthinking things? Absolutely.
I would like to have the next chapter out by the end of the week, but time will tell whether or not that will come to pass. Going forward, I will try to keep to a schedule, but don't be surprised if posting is erratic anyway. I'll try to maintain some amount of consistency, though!
Anyway, that's all I got for now. Hope to see you when the next chapter comes out!
Yay!
YAY OMG
I just want you to know how infinitely relatable what you write here really is.
