A New Sound

Ok so I’ll just get right down to it, we all know how important music is to us. It raises your mood, bringing excitement, or calming you down. It allows us to feel all the emotions that we experience in our lives. It’s a tool for emotional empowerment, such as enhanced mood and motivation. A fact that’s proven time and again in real life and in fiction.

For some reason in fiction, music is the most capable form of creative expression when it comes to defeating the forces of evil. The battle often takes the form of a concert or music video. That in itself helps to explain why it's almost always music that saves the world. It'd take a very imaginative writer/director to defeat the villain with the power of Symbolism, also known as Modern Expressionism..

However most of the time in fiction, when the world is saved and the Big Bad defeated by using music, it’s not through The Power of POP, The Power of Country, or The Power of JAZZ, but through…… ROCK!!! Incidentally, it's only "The Power of Rock" that is used, because 99 percent of the time rock is the musical genre of choice for the final battle and stuff. Rock tends to be loud and theatrical, and therefore more powerful. If the main character ever harnesses such power, expect them to do so with an electric guitar as their weapon of choice, in what is the musical instrument equivalent of Heroes Prefer Swords. Also refer to the many, many works of fiction in which characters fight for their right to rock (or party, or dance, or whatever as long as it involves music).

So a couple of months ago I got into what is probably the greatest, most hardcore, and most badass genre of rock ever created since the late 60’s to the early 70’s. The way it was made felt as if it originated from a creature named Ormagöden The Eternal Fire Beast, a giant monster of flaming, molten iron, who roared across the sky like an angry comet. The music was as hard and heavy as the Fire Beast's metallic flesh. It had the power of his blood, the heat of his fire, the speed of his flight, and the mighty roar of his death cry. But it also had the angelic beauty of an angels song, and a touch of a mournful wail. Its words told the story of a fierce and noble age. It was an anthem of the people, and they called it...
